Australian Premier League XIII

Well you can't really say Mason is better than Holland. Holland has played International cricket at least. Maybe his APL stats don't show that he's better but still.

IRL Cook is no where near the ODI squad.
Trescothick is good, but he's no wear near a great.
He's only 34, so if he was a great he'd still be playing for England.

Do you know what on paper mean?
It means my team appears to be stronger than yours.

Openers

Matthew Hayden and Shane Watson are a mile ahead of Alastair Cook and Marcus Trescothick. Hayden would be slightly ahead of Trescothick, but Watson in ODI's would be so far ahead of Cook.

Agree but not in this league till now.:yes Dont' tell me what strong on paper means.

Middle Order

Kumar Sangakkara, Paul Collingwood and Cameron White are pretty far ahead of Suresh Raina, Callum Ferguson and Tillakaratne Dilshan. Sanga and Dilshan are about equal, Colly is easily better than Raina, and White is slightly better than Ferguson.
Sanga=dilla
Raina<Colly
Ferguson>White(by a mile) White would have never made it to the squad if Ferguson hadn't got that career threatening injury. He was surely better.

Lower Order

Aaron O'Brien and Jim Allenby would be about equal with Steven Smith and Cameron Borgas. Smith would be the best out of these four players, and I have no idea who Borgas is.

I would've to say, Smith is greatest in these four but his APL career makes him worst. Borgas has emerged as one of those better batsman and he surely is for Redbacks.
Jim Allenby is great no doubt, he featured for me in season one.

Bowlers

Jerome Taylor = Brett Lee
Kemar Roach > Clint McKay
Shaun Tait > Josh Hazlewood
Matt Mason > Jon Holland

Brett Lee>>>>>>>>>>Taylor(Taylor is not that good, surely not better than lee)
McKay>>>>>>>>>>Roach(Roach have just better speed, nmothing else is better than McKay)
Tait>>>>>>>>>>Hazlewood(looking like till now, let's see in next series in which Hazlewood will be playing)
Jon Holland=Matt Mason(Can't compare those two, but IMO they are equal)
Overall

You may have the edge of about two players, there are about two players who are equal, while the remaining seven I hold the edge.

Of course this is all my opinion, and I have very little idea on how Biggy has rated the players.

Answered above.

The reason I mentioned cook's sixes is that he's only hit a few sixes ever.

Well you can't really say Mason is better than Holland. Holland has played International cricket at least. Maybe his APL stats don't show that he's better but still.

Actually I can say Mason is better than Holland.
Holland has a List A average of 87, and an E/R of 5.
Mason has a List A average of 29, and an E/R of 4.3.
Hmmm... I wonder who's better.

Also FYI Holland hasn't played any international cricket.

"Ferguson>White(by a mile)"

Lol, you've got to be kidding me.
The reason why White's better is, he's the one who's not injured.
Ferguson's injured in RL like you said, hence ATM White's better.

"Brett Lee>>>>>>>>>>Taylor(Taylor is not that good, surely not better than lee)"

Maybe I'll say there're equal.
For some reason no one cares when Lee's injured, but when I say Bond's one of the greatest bowlers of this decade everyone says he's been injured too much.
If they were to play tomorrow I'd take Taylor easily, as Lee's coming off a massive injury and has no form or recent match time.

"McKay>>>>>>>>>>Roach(Roach have just better speed, nmothing else is better than McKay)"

Is all I can really go is have a laugh, which I'm going to do. :laugh

"Jon Holland=Matt Mason(Can't compare those two, but IMO they are equal)"

Look what I said above.

Overall I rest my case, that my team's better on paper.

Sorry. I actually thought he played a game but now I remember, the game he was going to play in (the final ODI of I think it was the Indian series) was washed out. He's still got an Australian callup though.

Just that White is not injured at the moment, if doesn't make him better than Ferguson.

If Sachin Tendulkar gets a injury today for 3-4 months, and Chamu Chibhabha is not injured ATM.
Does this mean that Chibhabha is better than Tendulkar.

Maybe I'll say there're equal.

Lee is surely better than Taylor is what all I can say IMO.

great atleast I made you laugh.:sarcasm

on topic: Roach has 26 wicket from 13 matches. In those 13 matches he's played Australia 3 times and India 1 time(not with full squad) In those four matches he's picked 5 wicket for 185 runs at an average of 37. ER-dunno.

Rest of the matches were played against associate nations or Bangladesh.

Clint Mckay - picked picked 22 wickets from 11 matches, only one match against Ireland and rest against top nations. better SR and Average than Roach.

Congrats to Biggy for his league getting stickied. Well deserved!

Ferguson has been out for almost a year.
If Sachin got injured for several months, a few months down the track when he's still injured, I would not rate him as highly as I do now...
It doesn't make Chamu Chibhabha better.
A fully fit Ferguson and a fully fit White would be almost the same, but because Ferguson has been out for so long I'd rate White higher.

Just what I said above about Lee and Taylor.
A fully fit Lee would be slightly better, but since he's been out and is not back at his best, I'd have to say they are pretty much the same.

Point taken on Roach - McKay, I'd still rate Roach better, but that's fair enough if you want to rate McKay better.

And like Varun said congratz Biggy, for winning LOTM April/May.
What a great APL season two it was, as I won. :D

@Callum: Sorry, but it annoys me how you always do these full analysis' and then say your team is so much better and you don't know how you could lose, then you drop little hints that it is the way I rate them. I think you are forgetting a bit of common sense though. Gold Coast beat you in one match, whether you are better on paper or not, your team just didn't perform better on the day. Do you think because Bangladesh or Zimbabwe beat Australia that they were better on paper? Not at all, they just performed better in that one match, on that one day. If you just added up all their ratings then awarded the better rated team the win that would be pretty lame, right?

A fully fit Lee is on eof the best bowler in the world.
Even Lee is still better than Taylor.

McKay is surely better.

A fully fit Ferguson and a fully fit White would be almost the same

I agree, I'd say that he was stronger on paper, but as I said before, It was GCC's day so my team won. That's all.

/end discussion.

I was merely just having an argument with Akshay about who's team was better on paper...
You said do you think because Bangladesh or Zimbabwe beat Australia they were better on paper?
Of course not, it's just that me and Akshay were arguing about who's team better on paper, as he though his team was while I thought me team was.
If you don't want me doing that in your league in the future, I won't.

I'm not sure how this relates to player ratings at all.
I'm not sure what hints I was dropping, as I wasn't trying to drop any.
In the past me and you have had our differences about player ratings, but I have not mentioned them once over the last page, and it's you who has brought them up.
Why would I bring up player ratings after one game?
The main time I brought them up was over Vettori, who failed massively two seasons in a row for me.
As I said above, I'm not sure what hints I was dropping, as I wasn't trying to drop any.

In future I'll just make one post after each of my matches, as by the sounds of things no one wants me discussing things, does that sound good?
