Mathews was great with the ball, but Hayden and Watson both weren't too flash.
Man Voges has had a great season.

Edit: Actually Watson's bowling was great.

Haha, both my Aussie bowlers open the bowling, and then my best Aussie batsmen guides them home.

Just looking at my stats, fair point. How about Freedie? Averaged 50 with the bat and 30 with the bowl.

Well Freddie could have only slotted in at 7 (as the all-rounder) or 8 (as an opening bowler).

There was really only 2 spots for pace bowlers and I felt Dimi and Akhtar both out bowled him and deserved their spots down the order (especially with Dimi being very capable with the bat). As for 7, Mathews just got the edge. Gave Mathews the nod ahead of Freddie because I thought that the All-stars needed more of a batting all-rounder, and a finisher. Mathews batted @ 50+, and struck at 107. He saved Sydney a couple of times with some aggressive innings'. And whilst his bowling wasn't outstanding, he did the job, with an impressive economy rate.

I also want to get a general consensus on the matter of releasing players.

Could each manager post their thoughts and opinions on the matter thanks.

3 Domestic and 2 International. That should be a must IMO, if you want to do more then its your call.

I've posted my thoughts before about how I want a full reshuffle. When the APL was first made, the original manager of Cairns was Auckland Ace. He was not active in the first rounds of the draft, which meant all the good players were gone before Hedger took over in the third round (I think). The player that was given to us in the first round was Andrew Symonds, who Hedger went and traded away immediately. I therefore have no good Australian players at all, and since most managers never release any decent ones, I haven't been able to improve the Australians in my side at all. All I've managed to do is trade North for Hodge, and get Henriques, O'Keefe and McGain in, who are hardly high profile Australian players. My success has mostly come from my acumen as a manager, and being able to get the most of my random Australian players. In terms of internationals, I have only recently found some gems, but similarly, I have mostly terrible international players because of the beginning of the draft. A building needs solid foundations if it wants to withstand problems and stand tall. Likewise, I need good initial picks in a draft in order to do well in the competition.

Chewie added 3 Minutes and 5 Seconds later...

Of course the people who have good teams are going to want to keep them. Likewise those without good ones will want a reshuffle. But feel sympathy for people like me, who wind up with one of the worst squads in the tournament by a long distance, and have to struggle to get this far. The only reason I've got into the finals is because I find good talent in my random players, I have no Australian players who would be in the top 30 OD players in the country. I was given this team, improved it to the best I can but I can't do more because you guys aren't going to give up your gun Australian players. How am I supposed to win a tournament with someone else's leftovers. I've proved in the NZPL, the AfPL and the EPL that I am a manager capable of reaching finals, but I can only do that with a decent team, which I obviously do not have here.

Here's what I posted before about a reshuffle

Well, I too, would have preferred a reshuffle. But, even then it won't have really mattered to me as my exams are coming and I won't be able to get decent picks.
Still, I don't wanna lose Sehwag, who has been our prime man from the 1st season, Ryder and Marsh are gems, Kohli just needs better rating from Biggy :sarcasm, I'll give Botha his chance next season and finally all others are piece of ████.

But,Jono, you released the likes of Swann only to draft in the likes of Samit Patel last season and traded away Jesse Ryder as well.

You only played him once all season so don't give me that ████..
