Australia's Pathetic 2007/08 Schedule

look u aussies , don't take out your sledging and bulliness to my country. It's not what we are responsible for first of all. Secondly any body of you think that this is influenced by BCCI then even we allowed aussies not to play ODI's and return home when you asked. Do hell with your board and DON"T GO ON SLEDGING MY COUNTRY.

To yourself you are more important than pakistn in terms of matches but ask any indian or pakistani which matches they would rather see and you would get your answer

anyway regarding the summer issue,
no fans have asmuch right to moan like us pakistanis do,
we havent seen a sumeer or spring match for so many years and have to see players walking off 2 hours early in every day of every home test match in winter

next years aussie series will be the first spring series since the india tour in 2004 where we will hopefully get full days play
We are the number 1 team in the world, and India so need us for money that we have to play them every single year in a useless ODI Series. And as for your scheduling, this is a thread about Australia's scheduling, if you want to make your own thread go ahead but I am talking about Australia's summer.

As for Australia's summer schedule, they could easily help themselves out by shortening the CB series. Everyone would be happy.
Now that would be a solution. If only Cricket Australia applied some logic.

I'm guessing you were going for sarcasm here. The main reason that this ODI series would be happening is probably because there was some sort of money involved in the prior scheduling of the event and also because it has been postponed all over the place by both boards.

LOL. The Indian board makes 5 times more money playing Pakistan than any other country. Because of the political rivalry, a lot of Indians watch India-Pakistan matches on TV. If you look at the ad rates/10 seconds for India-Pak series, they're almost 3-4 times more than those when India plays any other country, including Australia.

Some one said that the BCCI is larger than the ICC. The guy gave an example of when Australia wanted the Indian schedule changed, because they did not want to play an ODI series. Get a grip.

spot on mate

Of course Pakistan/India are going to want to watch between eachother over a match between either one of them against Australia because they know they've got a chance of getting absolutely blown off the planet if they face us.

I think the problem here is the "amount" of cricket and not the scheduling of it. I do agree that the CB Series is too long and needs to be cut down to 6 games and a best of three final. Also having that 7 ODI series between Aus and Ind is unnecessary and is seen asmore of a formality than an actual series.

The FTP is just too hap hazard because it has no proper guidelines. Eng, Aus want to play at home in their summer, Ind want to play certain teams more than others to earn even more money, etc. etc. have just made the whole situation more chaotic.

Don't worry, we don't expect you to understand the rivalry between India and Pakistan.

No more comparisons between Tendulkar and Hayden please. Let's keep this thread on topic.

And yet we are the ones who they try and make an ODI series (which isn't part of a proper tour) with every year, sometimes in India and sometimes in obscure cricketing places such as the USA or Malaysia, and then when we are the hosts India are too busy to come.

I'm sure that Indian fans love watching India v Pakistan, on top of all you said the teams are also a lot closer than India and Australia, and yet here we are.

That was because India had an agreement with the West Indies to play in a tri-nation tournament featuring Australia or another top country. And do you really think having a match like India-Zimbabwe in Malaysia will really boost the profile or cricket there?

The problem with India-Pak matches is that these matches will lose their value if played too often. Check out the diamond-water paradox in economics.

After Pakistan, Australia is the country that the Indian board prefers, because like India, Australia has big stars(Ponting, Lee, Hayden). These three are very popular in India. An average Indian kid only recognizes Pakistani and Australian cricketers.

The ad rates for Australia-India series are low because of the absence of any political rivalry. The average person in India does not see a victory/loss to Australia as a matter of pride/shame. However, the same person links a victory/loss to Pakistan with his pride, mainly because of the intense political rivalry.

On the other hand, India's matches against SL and NZ do not generate too much revenue. That's because these teams do not have big stars, and the average Indian kid might not recognize Kiwi or Lankan cricketers.

You'd find that India plays a lot in non-regular locations like Abu Dhabi and Malaysia. That is done to help financially weaker boards, and to get crucial support in the ICC, much like what China and India are doing in Africa to get votes on their side at the UN.

Having read all you Aussie fans moaning about the Aussies having to change their traditional schedule for India, I would like to point out one thing for you : India have not played a home test series since facing England in March-April 06 .
We lost our season to the ICC Champions trophy and have no home tests in the whole of 2007, at least in the 2007 season due to the World Cup.

The season has been adjusted just because there is a Twenty20 WC in between.
And why are all of you moaning about India accomadating Pakinstan in the schedule ?
India-Pakistan cricket is still very important to we fans.

I reckon this schedule will be good for the watching cricket fans as there is a whole lotta cricket over the summer, with good variety (ODIs mixed with 20/20 and Tests - in different order).

I'm also very pleased with how they have finally found out that there is another side of Australia! WA gets a ODI with AUS ONCE A YEAR!!!! But they have rewarded us patient West Aussies with a 20/20 match :upray Thank you CA (Even though I'm not a HUGE fan of it)!

I had a quick glance at some people on the first page complaining about: WHAT! MCG doesn't get bla bla bla.... Jeez you bloody Melbournians get everything, so just be happy with what you have!
