Batting in career mode is a serious issue

I'm now playing the ball (or trying to) rather than playing the gap because I know that hitting it to a fielder won't now mean I always get caught.

Cheers. Is that because super human fielders are no more?

Indeed. I've even hit a four through the legs of one of the fielders at cover, they don't always gobble everything up now like they did before.

This has actually had a interesting affect on the game for me, I find that my strike rate has dropped, because as stated before, I now play the correct shots to the correct balls, previously I'd try and hit everything in a gap so I'd race to 30 - 40 and then get out playing the wrong shot, which was inevitable considering how I went about getting my runs. Now I actually find myself trying to build a innings. Last night I scored 49 before being caught at deep fine leg, I only hit 2 boundaries in that 49... Big big improvement for me personally, feels like I'm in control of my innings and not just riding the wave of fortune until I get out.

I am only chosen for T20 and One day cricket by Somerset. I started out with NSW in Aus. I play T20 for SA, IPL and county. Cant get to the four day game for Somerset. I normally go over fielders in powerplay and slow down afterward. Gives good strike rate and 20 plus average.

Don't have patience for four day game yet and get out in 20s and 40s.

I definitely takes a different mindset in the longer format. I find if I lose concentration and start thinking about where I'm going to hit the ball instead of where he's bowled the ball then my wicket will fall shortly after. It helps to take a 5 minute break every so often to keep concentration.

Last weekend I got out at 5:25pm day 2 on 190 off about 350 balls - strike rate was incredibly low for the entire day and then I stupidly started hitting for gaps instead of playing the ball. Only after I got out I realized I hadn't played a defensive shot for about 15 minutes. Don't think I'll get close to a double century again for a long time, but it was my fault :(

First ton. 225 from 200 balls.

Play my natural game. Hit medium pacers out of the park and block out spinners. Get 1 or 2 runs an over from spinners or dodge them. Played mainly onside and left most things outside of off.

I find the medium pacers bowling at 95 kph very difficult (James Hopes of Queensland comes to mind).

I have also found that I tend to bat very well for an hour or so and once the concentration go then it is when I start playing shots to everything. My highest score in the longer format is 116 off 212 balls. Not once in that innings I looked in trouble and as soon as I got to 100 the concentration went and I was trying to manufacture shots rather than waiting for bad balls. I must say I score 50s regularly but struggle getting to 100. Yet again have to say, if you get to 100 you actually feel like you deserved it and you tend to be very proud for a day or so.

My batting skills improves day by day. My highest Test score is 300, One day 160 and T20 118
I am now in Good Chance mode to get selected for my Home Team India. I've score 29 Centuries and 24 half centuries in Test.
7 Centuries and 22 half centuries in One day 4 Century and 8 50s in T20.

My bowling average is 71 in One day 48 in Tests and 49 in T20s.

Now my Team is not allowing me to bowl any over lol :D

I am playing my career at 19 and in this year I already earned 62144 Points. 4 Tests and 5 One days to go. Still few thousands points required to get into Top 1000 Career Rankings.

I earned 12 Man of the Matches continuously both Tests and One days.

I play for Tasmania at the moment.

You must have brilliant concentration if you have scored more centuries than half centuries. What strike rate are you batting At?

160+
I don't play spinners. I leave my partner to play up spinners.
My fastest century was at 33 balls. I hit 7 6's (1 was a nb) in a over bowled by Ten Doescathe. Out of 100+ matches played, I have lost my wicket more than 90 times against spinners only

When I'm playing spin I tend to stick to a very basic set up. Block anything straight, anything wide leg side I glance or drive to mid on, anything just out side off stump I drive to mid off/cover and anything wide or short outside off I leave. It works for me on amateur/pro, it used to be my downfall too but now I don't use aggressive trigger and just use the above method it works to pretty good success, I rarely get out to spin now. Veteran and legend is a different kettle of fish for me, I try to block/leave as much a possible and only look to hit leg side deliveries !

I am playing as legend. Maybe that's why I get out cheaply :D

I played on legend last night and couldn't hit the ball at all!! I guess you need advice from a more qualified person!!
