Draft: Best of the Rest in ODIs - The 2000s

24 hours up, thus posting my pick.

So glad he is still available, the white lightning Allan Donald 66 wickets with bowling average of 24. Donald & McGrath combo :party:

@Verified Enigma to pick next.
@Aislabie has one outstanding pick left.

Okay so I'm aware that :ban: :bat: Mohammad Ashraful averaged 24 from 150 matches in the period. And I'm aware that that's really not very good, but for one week in June 2005, he was the best batter in the world. Against Australia in that game, he scored his famous match-winning century. I was there that day, and he never even vaguely looked like he'd get out. It's since been bumped down to only the second-best innings I've seen live, but it's definitely the most important. Three days later, he rocked up against England and scored a 52-ball 94. Then on the last day of that week, he played a completely different innings - a resilient 58 as the team subsided around him. As it turned out, that was just lightning in a bottle; before that three-game week, he averaged 16.50 from 49 games; after it, 22.96 from 125. In true Ashraful fashion, the innings that bookended it were both golden ducks. But I'm picking him anyway, for that week.

1. :ind: :bat: Sachin Tendulkar
2. :wi: :ar: Chris Gayle
3. :sri: :bat: Marvan Atapattu
4. :aus: :ar: Darren Lehmann

10. :saf: :bwl: Makhaya Ntini
11. :afg: :bwl: Hamid Hassan

Apologies all for the delay, @Verified Enigma has the double pick

The first pick will be :aus: Andrew Symonds :ar: an aggressive hardcore fighter finisher who is surprisingly Australia's fifth highest wicket taker in the 2000s. He also gives the flexibility of spin and medium pace as per the situation.

The penultimate pick of my draft will be :saf: Albie Morkel :ar: another hard hitting finisher specially in the slog overs, plus can bowl the entire 10 overs on someday if need be.

Now, I only have Pakistan left and since every other person has already picked a Pakistani, I am going to go ahead and make my final pick in form of :pak: Umar Gul :bwl: who was magical to watch. He was the one of the primary bowlers for Pakistan during the later half of the decade when other stalwarts either retired or were struggling with injuries and other BTS stuff.

Another one of my target is luckily not picked. Needed a middle order batsman at 6, Tatenda Taibu fits there perfectly, one of Zimbabwean legend, 2200 runs, terific keeper, thus Rahul dravid won't keep for us @Verified Enigma Taibu will.

@Aislabie to pick next

Another big hitter in my middle order and a keeper to boot, :zim: :wk: Charles Coventry will be at number seven in my team. It's certainly the sort of role his game was best suited to playing - just his misfortune that due to the sheer lack of batting quality available, he often had to bat in the top three for Zimbabwe. Plus you've got to love a batter in glasses.
