Wouldn't it be better to start a thread on best young bowlers?

Because there is allot more talent out there at the moment in the bowling department.

I was just saying I dont think the requirments of the poll will help find the best young batsmen.

no mate not really... you will never know if he's the best unless he has faced other international bowlers and has done something good at the international level...

I think it's Salman Butt because he is 23 and he already got 7 hundreds, 8 fiftys and his average is over 40.
plus the way he played against India in the final was just amazing.

The amount of national bias in this thread is quite ridiculous. Tough choice between Ross, AB and Cook. But went with Taylor for the way he has dominated the English and Aussie line ups before.

Was really tempted to go for Raina, for he is amazing to watch when in full flow. Oh, and don't forget national bias. :p

Alastair Cook's a year younger and has 8 international hundreds and 13 Fifties. He also averages 42 in test cricket and adapted his game pretty well to ODi cricket. Cooks first class average is better, he has a hundred in Australia, India and Sri Lanka and 4 at home. Butt only has 1 away hundred (albeit against Australia) and 1 at home. Cook's first class average is also stronger, and he plays in a country with a far stronger FC set-up. Butt's ODi stats are better, but only against India and Bangladesh, he's struggled against everyone else, and his average of 40 is only because of those performances. Cook's a far better player, and i'm sure that the large majority of informed members would agree.

Taylor is a good bat, I just do not like his technique very much.

Its got to be AB or Cook, but I went with Raina because as Mob pointed out, I am biased :p

Let's just say, Cook's a proven Test quality opener, and Butt is far from it.

cook is more of a test player then ODI
But you are right about Salman Butt that he only plays good against India and Bangladash but I think he is improving now.
I can safely call him the next Saeed Anwer.

But Cook is good player... is just that I haven't seen him play that much.
I need to watch Cook play.

Ross Taylor for me, the lad is going to get even better than he is at the moment, and I believe, lead the batting line-up in a few years time.

Cook's up there with him, better than Butt, no question about that.
