BLIC Full Version - Views, Opinions and Reviews

Earl;ier i was one of the big supporters of tha game but i soon got tired of its speed and flaws so i stuck back in cricket 2004 and took back BLIC2005. Personally i found it to Amercanised and Unrealistic i mean I was hitting 6's at will, its fun to begin with and yes it has a lot of good points but for me it didnt replicate Cricket enough, however if you still have the game and are enjoying it fair play to you and keep enjoying it.

I had high hopes of this game but alas apart from the real fun multiplayer this game is not for the hardcore cricket fans. Codies have gone overboard with the speed of the game issue and made it too fast in the end. Bowling speeds are pathetic. Not even by trying any self respecting fast bowler can bowl at 45 MPHs. Sweep shot is missing. The shot animation except for few shots are poor. A bit too quick and there is no replay option (manual) to check what shot u played. AI is pathetic. Codies have managed to be worse than EA this time around.

1). Brian Lara International Cricket 2005 has very realistic gameplay. The opposition will attempt to pace their innings and if a wicket is taken quickly the opposition will attempt to create a partnership and steady the innings. In Cricket 2005 the opposition make no attempt to pace their innings and never adapt to certain situations.

2). The shot animations aren't something to write home about, but are significantly better than Cricket 2005.

3). The sweep shot is included in Brian Lara International Cricket 2005, but it requires precise timing and patience.

I agree, the movement of the game is too quick. A few cutscenes here and there would have been great, but this is something to look for in future versions. I also think Autoplay and a manual replay option would improve the series.

But Mr. Skateboarder Sweep shot should never be a rare shot in cricket. It is one of the elementary shots of the game and should never require that much percision and confidence. The fact that Batsman cant play sweep straight away but he can belt the ball for six the first ball he faces further proves my point.
And about the CPU chasing. I dont know how can you claim that AI is good with chasing. The cpu hardly runs easily available singles let alone chase a big total.
My objection to shot animation is that shot animation for ground and power shots is excactly the same which makes a power shot look stupid.

Well It has already been discussed that the AI is not great, and there are somethings which could have made this game even better. But even then the game is not that bad.

Without moving the batsmen playing the shot are not very easy. I bowl with a arc of fielders in catching positions like 3 slips and gully, cover point and want the batsmen to belt me in covers if he can and actually he does lol. But I also have a chance of wickets also keeping deep cover he often take singles. I keep changing the field positions depending on the batsmen. One frustating thing is that CPU get a healthy edge and it goes for third man for runs.

Having said all that. I prefer BLIC over cricket 2005. IMO Codemasters game it is much better game than EA's.

BRIAN LARA v CRICKET 2005
=====================

The first question is what do you want in a cricket game ??? If it's realism, plenty of teams including International, English County and Australian State sides with the ability to change and manage squads, tournaments and tours etc, stats, graphs and with a challenge.....Cricket 2005

If you're happy with just International teams with little or no stats only scorecards and bowling figures and very easy and arcadey....Brian Lara

Both have their good points and both have their bad points especially Cricket 2005....

Cricket 2005 - Ups Very authentic, loads of options, stats and teams, full editing facilities and better graphics than BLIC.
Downs Some annoying bugs (although if you get the PC version there maybe a patch from EA but don't hold your breath failing that some third party patches from the community here in time), can be too hard at times and the lack of a save feature in the XBOX version.

Brian Lara - Ups Easy to get into and play, no bugs yet!!! and smooth.
Downs Fake names in non ICC squads which you can edit with the rather limited editor  , very few stats, arcadey repetitive commentary some actually appeared in the original BLC

My Opinion - Go for Cricket 2005 and wait for patches, there will be some in time.... ;)

Hi
YA I would be definately going for Ea sports bc not just of their name and all but the total quality of gameplay and graphics and all . Would be preffering Ea sports

What is the point of Moin Khan in BLIC when there is new Kamran Akmal in team ... y did BLIC put Moin Khan in ICC Champions Trophy ??????

No timer in Test mode & rain delays

Why why why didn't Codies put a timer in Test mode? I find it so irritating playing a full Test match and not knowing what stage of a session I am in. EA managed it in Cricket 2004 and I'm pretty sure it was in the original BLC but its omission here is a big one.

While I'm on the subject of Test mode I also wish Codies hadn't done away with the nice rain feature they had in BLC. When play was suspended due to rain you used to get a picture of the covers on the pitch and the rain coming down while the pavilion clock whizzed round showing you how much time was being lost. Then the rain would ease, the sun would come out and the batsmen would walk out to the crease.

It's such a shame this has been lost. I was in the vital final stage of a Test against NZ last night and building a winning position, only to come off for rain in the final session of the 4th day. I waited anxiously in the hope I would get back out soon and had to watch the silly "Loading" screen which spoiled the tension, only to find when play resumed that it was suddenly the final session of the 5th day. It would have been so much better to watch the time slipping by as it was a total surprise to find myself losing an entire day's play, rather than a more realistic growing realisation that the game would be a draw.

What's more I had to go and bat out the final 25 overs to end the game when the match was a certain draw. This was pretty unrealistic.

If you save the game it will tell you the day and session.

I know you can, but this still doesn't tell you how far along you are in a session. It's difficult to judge the correct level of aggression when batting because you may want to play it safer just before a session break....

finnaly got this game! :) and it is amazing! im playing a test match againest NZ with Pak and i've lost the firist game!!! btw i was playing on test..I got them out for 64 then i got out for 32 then they made 46 and i lost by 28 runs :( but im getting better!
