Border-Gavaskar Trophy (India in Australia) Dec-Jan 2011/12

What was Cowan thinking by leaving that ball. Everyone knows Umesh brings the ball back in.

----------

This is what a good bowling couple does. Zaheer makes the life hell at one end thus batsman tends to go easy on Umesh and take their chance on him

hawkeye showing it was not hitting the stump.. ridicuolous..
if these decison get reverse by DRS, in which batsman is padding up and then god save bowlers..

-Even Ian Chappel thinks this.

cowans leaving was pretty iffy early in the first innings as well. seems harsh because he did knuckle down, but he left more than a few that were less than 6 inches away, and was hit on the thigh leaving one that was flying over middle stump.

The one on Channel 9 showed it clipping which would have been given under DRS.

Now you got it why BCCI is against DRS. The one on StarCricket showed it missing Off stump. So it comes down to whoever is handling the ball tracking replay.

And Boy, Zak is absolutely stunning in this spell. Ponting had no clue in last over.

Zaheer Khan. Oh my God. What a bowler. Yadav backing him up, I know it's him who's got 2 wickets but Zak is OWNING the batsmen out there right now.

it was not clipping in star cricket.. Ian Chappel is saying about this in air with Ganguly.

Here is commentary from Cricinfo

Cowan is gone padding up, Umesh has two in the over, he hasn't been getting the ball to do much and probably that is why Cowan decided to shoulder arms seeing the ball going across him, but it seemed to come back in a shade and rapped him on the front pad in line with middle and off, the umpire raised the finger right away and Cowan departs shaking his head, yikes, ball tracker shows the ball would have just missed the off stump, but he wasn't offering a stroke and umpires are usually pretty severe with that

This is hostile stuff from India. Yadav is bowling fast and on the body, while Zaheer is using his guile to fool the batsmen.

Well don't even know how Star Cricket has a ball tracker since it has to be setup at the ground and Channel 9 is the official broadcaster.

I hate star cricket big time, they are not showing speeds of the ball. Atleast NEO is in good this.

Damn. Zaheer is off the attack now. Would have loved a couple more overs from him but don't wanna tax him too much by being greedy. Lets hope Ishant can carry on.

Channel 9 hawkeye definitely showed the ball hitting the stumps.

In fact, I think the Hawkeye in this instance was very slightly inaccurate with regards to tracking where it hit the pad. That's where the error is the greatest with ball tracking technology. A small difference in judging where the ball hit the pad leads to a much bigger eventual difference at Stump distance. On the camera replays, I think the ball was smashing off stump...Hawkeye shows it clipping. Either way he's out. Anyway let's not argue with every goddamn umpiring decision.

Maybe I'm going overboard with my Zaheer love, but if he had his current skill and guile when he first burst onto the Indian team and was bowling 140+ kph he could have ended his career as a modern great.
