Border-Gavaskar Trophy (India in Australia) Dec-Jan 2011/12

in a chase this size I think india need sehwag to provide that quick 40-60 runs that he does very well in 4th innings chase.

I can see them stuttering otherwise and pattinson has made the lead enough to punish stuttering. 292 is too high to make if you're losing wickets with the regularity this pitch suggests you will.

aussies favourites by a long way for me now. agree with the commentator though, leave gambhir alone, good bowling bothers him, but I've never seen him particularly bothered by sledging.

Anything under 300 gettable, Viru? You think others will get it, right?:mad

Perfect time for Tendulkar's 100th 100

Well this is poor cricket from India. 24 for 4 and they score 240. 213/3 and we score 280.
Then Sehwag who is given license to do anything always goes after all deliveries and is out now.

Really hope Dravid continues his magic touch and Gambhir shows his true class

I guess the point is, although the hope/fear of Sehwag scoring big and quick in the 4th innings exists....history has shown that it rarely happens. Yet, India have gone on to achieve challenging 4th innings targets in recent times (albeit in the subcontinent).

Obviously, the advantage at the moment lies with Australia. The problem for India is that with Gambhir and Dravid, the runs don't flow as frequently. If Sachin comes in at a 100/2, that's when the Aussies should start worrying because he'll score the runs at a good rate. Right now, the aim for India should be to tire the fast bowlers and wait for Lyon to get a bowl and whack him around.

Furthermore, the Indian tail in recent times has been quite shocking. Yadav/Zaheer won't make more than 10 runs between them. Ishant can hang around and support the person at the other end but he's not gonna score any runs himself.

India has a very long tail especially with Dhoni being no better than a tailender in tests.

Just woke up to see that the last wicket added 40+. Pathetic stuff after having bowled with so much fire and skill yesterday. This is where we are yet to get someone in the place of the void left after Kumble`s retirement. Kumble was very good against the tail and was as good as any fast bowler in cleaning up the tail.

Good start after tea. Our only chance to win here is if we keep chugging along with the score. Dravid cannot afford to get bogged down here and I think India missed a trick by not sending in someone like VVS at No.3 or for that matter Virat Kohli to just counterattack after Sehwag`s wicket. Had Sehwag been there, Dravid coming in at No.3 was not an issue for me but now with Sehwag out and Gambhir not being the free flowing batsman these days, we could have sent in a more free flowing batsman at No.3 , ala Pujara at Bangalare.

This is it. Sachin/Dravid partnership. If this partnership lasts for less than 50 runs, I reckon India are gone.

I'd like to get rid of Laxman before saying that, bad memories of that guy.

Good stuff Siddle, that looked like a Hughes dismissal.
