Border-Gavaskar Trophy (India in Australia) Dec-Jan 2011/12

What do you guys think is a good first innings score on this pitch? Aus need to bat last as well.

Pitch looks good to bat on. The Indian batsmen were just shockingly poor with their footwork and paid the price for it. Kohli looks alright so far (touch wood) and Sachin...is Sachin. I'd say 300 is probably a par score.

The only good thing for India is that they were able to restrict the Aussies to reasonable scores at the MCG. The Indian bowlers bowled well and the Aussie batting has been shaky for a while.

Yet again, Tendulkar looking good but he cannot play his normal game as the team is under pressure. I don't see us scoring more than 250 in this innings.

Siddle really has been leaking the runs today. Just enhances the theory that he and Johnson should never be in the same side together, what a difference it has made having 2 bowlers going at less than 3 an over.

Poor poor stuff from India! Gambhir has to go. Mukund wont fare worser than this. Mukund showed good promise during that series against West Indies in West Indies where the pitches were favoring the bowlers. He had a tough tour of England but I think he played only 2 tests or so there.... I would give Mukund another shot and drop Gambhir and give him the 'Harbhajan/Yuvraj' treatment. Disappointed with Laxman. He has been failing since the England tour. Maybe its time for him to take stock of his game and decide if the time has come up for him to leave. And Dravid not reprising his England heroics is hurting us here.

Kohli and Sachin so far look pretty good (touchwood). A big partnership can resurrect things for India. If this partnership is broken, things will be so bleak for India. We need to get to 300 atleast to have some fight in the match.

I guess we can write off Kohli as a Test player for now. Rohit deserves a chance in next match.
