Border-Gavaskar Trophy (India in Australia) Dec-Jan 2011/12

I think it will be another whitewash.4-0

Its time India looks to the future and drop the old guys bar Tenadulkar maybe.

We dont want to rebuild at all. We want to wait until these guys fail to the point where the team is hurt badly, and then slowly they will trudge off. Whats the use in all this show of brilliance when you cant stay long enough for take the team to a good score?

I am soon reaching the point where I will give up on this series. If Australia are ordinary, India are worst. And I dont think India will ever rebuild. They will probably concentrate more towards ODI and T20's and the powerful BCCI will do as much as they can to bury test cricket.

I think we are seeing the true effects of IPL. We already saw what happened in England with people like Gambhir and Sehwag preferring to Play in the IPL instead of trying to get fit for the England series.Such players should never be picked for India.

That's why I'm not a fan of all these T20 leagues appearing all over the place...

There's only one reason for this rubbish. It's a defensive mindset which is leading to poor footwork. If the players were positive, it would show in the footwork of the players. Sehwag, Laxman and Gambhir are not moving their feet an iota. I know Sehwag and Laxman aren't known for moving their feet, but in this series it's much more pronounced than usual.

Perhaps we should pick two different squads, one for home and one for away. The one thing I've really appreciated from watching the last 3 innings, is how good a player Tendulkar is. Yes, he's not got a big one but damn, he's got some decent scores and looked great.

Not taking anything away from Australia but the real test for them will be to play like this in the Sub-Continent conditions, where it's hard to swing the ball and spinners are benefited and Australia does has some problem with spinners. Australian team needs some good spinners, Lyon hasn't really looked too good in this series. He is young, he has potential but he isn't ideal for an international side but then I don't think there are any better spinners than him in Australia at the moment, are there? The good thing for Australia is, they have got some excellent pacers and that's what makes their team strong but just talking in a general way, if they get a good spinners too they can be the best side in the world cricket easily.

But whatever, we have really played bad cricket in this series so far. It's about time we stop making excuses and actually show how good a team we are, which we aren't. Unless Gambhir does something special in the second innings, it's time to drop him.

Lets stop using Australia's performance in the subcontinent as an excuse for our poor performance. The truth is, we wanted to be No.1 but we are far far away from it. We first need a change of captaincy in tests.

Lyon did pretty damn well against Sri Lanka.

Speaking of Lyon just got some nice turn and hit Dhoni on the pads. Best ball he's bowled.

Ashwin definitely looking dodgy against the short stuff, need to keep peppering him with it.

tendulkar's average in the series is pretty poor considering the touch he's been in. it's bad luck to a point, but there is perhaps a hint that so far, what with dravid and laxman being slow to get forward a couple of times, and tendulkar losing concentration almost inexplicably, that there are signs their ages are catching up with them.

kohli on the other hand really doesn't quite look like he knows what he's doing on a bouncey pitch. really up to the selectors/coaches if they want to persevere in the hope he gets the hang of it or give rohit a go.

gambhir should probably keep his place despite his awful form because there are an awful lot of shake ups coming without also having to dump about the only established batsman that should have a long future in the team.

At last Hilfy being rewarded for a good initial spell of bowling. Zaheer doesn't look all that crash hot against the short stuff either.
