Briggs At The Villa (FM2006) [First Person Perspective]

get Carlos Magno mate a legend ... a legend cant say more he is yong 19 can be signed fro 3 mil and after training he becomes a hell of a player and also get Berbatov a goal machine or even Porcellis great talent

I didnt continue this story because I couldnt commit to it and put in the type of effort the likes of Bala, Sid and Mwaugh are putting into their stories, but I did continue playing and so every once in a while I will keep updating you on how the team is doing. Im currently at the beginning of Season 2007/08, and last year was a fantastic season.

We came 2nd behind Chelsea in the league and managed to win the Uefa Cup by beating Everton in the final 3-0. Obviously none of that would have been quite possible without some improvements to the squad, so here is the squad as of September 29th 2007 (game time)

Ill give you a little info about each of the guys.

Frey - Bought at the beginning of last season and was ever present, only conceded 46 goals in 57 games, keeping 33 clean sheets in the process.

Viviano - Recent purchase at the start of this season, current Italian U21 keeper.

Jones - Young starlet bought from Crewe, 18 caps for England U21 and another ever present last season.

Bouma - One of the few survivors from the squad when I first took over, solid and reliable at the back, forms a good partnership with another fellow Dutchman.

Barry - Club captain, England's first choice left winger, an ever present for them in the 2006 World Cup, and always does a job for the team.

Ferdinand - Spent last season on loan at Wigan after signing from West Ham, and helped them to a top 10 finish. Now gets his first chance to impress this season.

Boulahrouz - The other half of the solid center half combination, very strong but can be prone to easy mistakes at times.

Dani Alves - Only just recently purchased him from Sevilla but has been impressive in his first 4 games.

Grosso - Impressive left sided player, can play anywhere on the left side of the pitch and will be hoping to add to his 7 Italian caps.

Bangura - Big talent for the future at only 18, bought on the cheap from Watford and spent a bulk of his first season on loan at Barnsley, but then came back and was very impressive, playing in the Uefa Cup final.

Mascherano - Another recent signing, adding further strength to the midfield and is already forming a strong partnership with McCann in the center.

McCann - Another survivor of the old regime, one of the first names on the team sheet every week. Ever present in Sven's England squads but never gets a chance to impress.

Petrov - Bought from Celtic at the start of last season, injury hit start to his Villa career but he still hit 6 goals from midfield last year.

Kalou - Big talent (can see why Chelsea bought him in real life) uses his pace well but needs to improve on his crossing, at only 22 he has time on his side and has been another ever present in his time at Villa playing 100+ games in 3 seasons.

Odonkor - Young German has struggled to get a chance since scoring on his debut last season, but still has time on his side and more importantly, he is very versatile

Carvalho - A pure genious on the left hand side, always finds a way to make his presence felt in a game and has interested Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool enough to all make them offer ?10m+ for his services. All were declined of course!

Kapo - Always does well when he is selected. Played a lot last season when Carvalho was injured, scoring 4 times. Ever present for France too where he has 9 goals from 18 apperances.

Adu - The young American star keeps getting better and better, this will be his second year at the club, scored 10 goals last season, impressive for a 17 year old especially as most of those goals came from the bench. 6 goals in 13 apperances for the national side too.

Tevez - Mr Aston Villa! An amazing goal scoring machine, his goals and his deadly partnership with Angel took us to Uefa Cup glory last season, despite him missing half the season with injury. Has scored 62 times in 90 games for the club and is always an ever present in the Argentinian squad.

Angel - Given a new lease of life under my management, and despite an average first season, he hit new hights last season, scoring 34 goals in 55 apperances including 14 in the Uefa Cup. Despite being one of the older players in the squad, he still keeps impressing.

Ashton - Bought from Norwich after hitting 27 goals in 26 league apperances for them. Made an instant impact on his Villa debut scoring one and setting up another. Also scored on his England debut too!

Fred - The deadly Brazillian has made an instant impact since signing from Lyon! 7 in 7 in the Premiership and is adjusting easily to the English game. At 23 he is still young and will be looking to add to his solitary Brazillian cap this season.

I will keep updating you on my progress, but dont expect none of the great looking stories the others have produced as I dont posess the time to do that at this moment.

Mascherano, Tevez, Adu, Grosso!!! Villa taken over by Russian mafia? :p

Good to see Briggs guiding Villa to another European trophy!

You would be suprised Bala! I paid Mascherano's Minimum Fee Release Clause which was ?9.25m but I only paid ?3/4m up front, Tevez cost ?11m, Adu ?3m and Grosso was a free transfer!
