Bringing through youth bowlers

Money is very tight. I can't afford at all to buy ANYONE. My side is overly reliant on youth players. I've had a struggling bowling attack for like 5 seasons, and can't do anything about it because I don't have enough money to buy anyone and keep getting batting youths =S

I've tried releasing a few batsmen to free up funds, but no side seems willing to sell any decent bowlers either...and even when they do sell good ones, I can't sign them because their wages mean I 'won't have enough funds to sustain the minimum squad size'

Drives me crazy.

Example two youth players are my opening bowlers. They are trained with Tech training all year.
My two 30 year old bowlers play 2nds all year. The next year my 30 year olds are in the default team instead of the two youths I have tried to train.

IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!:noway

Playing them is also important in their progress from my experience, of course, you cannot polish a turd, but experience counts for a lot.

This is a bit embarrassing. I've only just got to the 2nd season in a save for the first time, so I'm just discovering that all my tech training has vanished. I never once got a message that it had worked, and at least one player had accumulated two months' worth and yes he was getting game time.

I can only hope that my last year's tech training has not simply evaporated, but has been taken account of somewhere in the inscrutable workings of the game. Does anyone know?

Sureshot, I was hoping that you might be able to enlighten me...

What do you mean it has vanished? Over the time you were allocating it to those players it would be improving them

What do you mean it has vanished?

First of all, thank you for your reply.

Vanished as in not there any more. End of September last year, Freddie Klokker had 67 days tech training (on back-foot batting). I know the season starts on April Fools' Day, but I don't think it's a prank that I'm being told he now has zero days training. Nor is he any less of a front-foot specialist.

Over the time you were allocating it to those players it would be improving them

That's what I am hoping and asking for advice about.

It would be better if the game still registered the number of days you had allocated to training, at least in the case of specific training where the specific outcome desired (ie. change from 'strong' to 'slight' front foot preference) has not yet occurred. This way it looks like you are starting again from scratch, and that impression could be very discouraging.

Oh I see what you mean now. I don't normally look at that :p I just assume that the training occurs while they've got the training thing.

I see your point, there obviously wouldn't be training during the off-season, which is why it has reset, though you'd argue that the progress shouldn't be lost.

I'll have a word with Chris on it, it's an aspect of the game I've not really delved in to with him.
