Budget Draft: Bargain Hunt

:ind: :bat: Ajay Jadeja (6)

576 runs @ 26.18 (best 96) in 15 Test matches
8,100 runs @ 54.00 (20 centuries, best 264) in 111 first-class matches

A first-class and one-day international giant who never quite got the opportunities he should have done in Test cricket, Ajay Jadeja fits perfectly into my team at the top of the order. If he'd had the chance to get settled into a consistent role, I've no doubt that he'd have thrived at Test level as his ODI record shows that the quality of bowling was no obstacle. There was of course the fixing cloud under which he finished his career, but I'm going to take the approach of innocent until proven guilty because it suits my interests in picking this team.

Aislabie's XI so far:
1. :ind: :bat: KC Ibrahim (1)
2. :ind: :bat: Ajay Jadeja (6)
3. :aus: :bat: Don Bradman (50)

7. :eng: :wk: Godfrey Evans (0)
8. :eng: :ar: Ashley Giles (10)
9. :aus: :bwl: Brett Lee (20)
10. :nzf: :bwl: Jeetan Patel (3)

Well, I need to address my openers, so I’ll go with Roy Fredericks for 22 points.

A mainstay at the top of the West indies order during their rise to greatness, Fredericks was a genuinely world class attacking opener. His Chinamen also give me a handy second spinning option alongside Benaud

@Paranoid Kendroid is up next, and @Welwyn still has a late pick.

Write-up and index now sorted.

You go ahead - I'll make the pick on the train tomorrow
Thanks. I’ll pick Gordon Greenidge for 24 points.

This gives not only 2 world class openers, but a genuinely world class opening partnership. Before there was Greenidge and Haynes, there was Fredericks and Greenidge.

Serious batting line up here.

:saf: :bwl: Bob Newson (0)

4 wickets @ 66.25 (best 2/58) in 4 Teat matches
60 wickets @ 26.03 (1 5WI, best 5/54) in 24 first-class matches

Just a really good seam bowler to fill out this team's bowling attack - Newson was as accurate as the very best in the world during his short career.

CerealKiller's XI so far:
1. :eng: :bat: "Plum" Warner (3)
2. :ind: :wk: Nayan Mongia (4)
3. :ire: :bat: Ed Joyce (3)
4. :eng: :bat: Archie MacLaren (13)
