Buying Don Bradman Cricket 14 in Asia

You wouldn't but the guy at the other end with a decent connection would :p

Most of the times the bottleneck is not the download speed but the upload one as you need to send the data to server or your opponent and if there's not enough bandwidth you will encounter lag. Ideally you should have around 2MBps for download and .5 MBps for upload for lag free gaming provided there's no latency added within your network due to multiple routers, double nats etc.

For the next gen Sony recently came up with internet speed requirements for using PS Now service, and you will need a minimum of 5 MBps download speed for optimal experience.

PS Now is a game streaming service.....its not related to online gaming whatsoever. I think 512kbps is more than enough for online gaming. When playing online, games do not send a lot of data (packets) across. If you see this test conducted on the aggregate data that ps4 games send across, you can see that the max was from Killzone:SF which is 32.42MB in a ten minute interval. That is 3.24MB per minute, and 0.054 MB per second (55.3KBps which is 442.4 kbps) The worrying factor should be the ping times that you receive, as that is what denotes how quickly the packets are being exchanged. Thats where Indian service providers really s*ck.

There are plenty of ways to get around it...

1. Use a public DNS which is fastest for you. Use DNS Bench utility to find out (Note: Don't use google bench as its result are skewed in favor of google DNS). I found out my best DNS is the one provided by Verizon and I use it. Made a lot of difference and my latency improved quite a bit.

2. Go with a wired/ethernet connection as ping speed and latency are invariably better for wired connections compared to wireless.

3. Assign your PS3 a static IP and in case UPnP doesn't work well with you, forward ports for psn. Worst case scenario put your ps3 in a DMZ.

4. If you have a smart tv, use the game mode or turn off all the signal processing thingies off manually if there's no game mode.

5. On ps3 turn off the "what's new" notification, media server and screen saver settings.

6. If you have plenty of devices at home, try to set up your downloads or limit media streaming when you are gaming and set up QOS on your router so PS3 gets the highest priority.

These should increase your ping speeds/latency considerably.

Ping is heavily dependent on the ISP , the tweaks you gave wouldn't make much difference when the ping is around 400-600 ms even though the connection speed is around 2-4mbps this is a prob with most indian ISP's. I personally have a 3G connection just for online gaming due to the ping factor, its funny that i have a better ping with the wireless connection around 60-100ms..

TBH most of the lag on the ISP side can be eliminated by using a public DNS. If you are still getting ping/latency of 400-600 msec you need to change your ISP. Anything over 150 sec is laggy and over 400 msec would make for a pretty poor online experience.

Has our Indian distributor's sunder electronics website been hacked? As I am able to view all 3d party advertisements when I visit their site.

Same here.
Whenever i tried open the website...i got massage that your comp infected with Trojan virus

Are you using chrome browser? If yes, disable the media player add-on/extension as that's actually a virus that opens up third part ads at random places in websites.

many try switching dns to public ones like google, but not much of an improvement hardly reduces. The ping with most land-line broadband connections vary between 400-600ms Its a problem with a lot of ISP 's here, changing dns wont help much. changing ISP will.

I must say I'm very pleased with the number of people, particularly in India who are straight away, without hesitation, pre-ordering the game. Seems (unless I'm reading so many double-posts on different threads) the number of people just on this site alone is nearing 50+ (100 if you count the friends that they've said will be buying too). I'm guessing that, depending on the actual number shipped, the game will be very close to sold out in reasonable time in this region.

The numbers will boost up even more when the PC version releases. I guess the PC sales would be more than 10 times the console sales (in India). I'm optimistic that DBC14 will receive a warm welcome.

Just wait till we are able to work out a group buy discount for Indian buyers on IVG. I have a feeling we will be able to make a lot of sales at the price that is in discussion.

Ya that seems to be working out well. What about all of us who have preordered from flipkart at 4299? Wouldn't it be nice if we also joined that group and ordered in bulk?
