Can't install Ravi's patch

I just downloaded version 8 of Ravi's patch - and when i go to install it it says that it cant become of "unkown gob file"....

i got that when i tried to install v.3 onwards

is this because i had sams exe on there as well?

is this because i tried editing the gob myself with the gob editor?

anyone know y?

It has to be the original gob- not edited at all
