Can't play MY Game!

Having not played Ashes Cricket for a long time, and uninstalled it, I decided today I would like to have another go at it with the patches that I see have been created.

So I installed the game, downloaded the patches, but to my dismay find out I can't play as I get some message about a licence not being active, or similar words! What is all that about? I don't see anything in my game manual about it, so what am I supposed to do to be able to play Ashes again?
