Tasmania All out for a poor total of 123. However it must also be said that the pitch is in near unplayable condition. I few missed chance gave the Tigers a extra 20 - 30 runs. Will this come back to haunt the the Bushrangers. Only time will tell.

Victoria s innings began a downhill sprial from ball one......when Wright had Moss caught at fourth slip and the two over later hodge bowled for a duck.
Young American Anton Brown was then bought into the attack by ponting taking 3 wickets in his second over to have Victoria in deep poo at tea.

Well its a sunny morning here in Hobart for day to of this opening Pura Cup match of the season. The pitch appears to have dried out considerably and the batsmen will be looking to put the horrors of the first day behind them. The first day really did below to young Anton Brown, the 17yr old scouted over from america by none other than the Tasmanian folk hero David Boon. I caught up with Brown after a few quiet drinks lats night and this is what he had to say.

Me: Well Anton what a day, did u ever dream of a debut like that?

Brown: Nah brother, i just wanted to get out there and show em fools i aint no chump. Yah here me player!!!!! Dam man i was on fire boy, dem fellas thought i was toss'n down hand grenades or sumth'n.

Me: Well lets not get to far ahead of our selves you did get a golden duck!!!!

Brown: Who u diss'en man...... i had a dam fly in my eyes could see **** brotha.

Me: That'll just about do me.......... good luck tommorrow.

Brown: Ya man holla at ya lata, respect.

Well the players and umpires are out in the middle so lets go enjoy the morning session.

Lunch Day 2

1st Inn TAS 123
1st Inn VIC 45
2nd Inn Tas 4/200

Tasmania lead by 278 runs

Ponting 80 (164) no
DiVenuto 79 (86) no

Inness 2/36

Ponting and DiVenuto have taken the attack to the Victorian bowler and have come out well and truely on top. The pitch has certainly settled down as we have not seen the consistant sideways movment and low skidding bounce that cause so much drama on day one. Victoria will need to claim an early wicket if they are to save this match at all.

2nd Inn Tas 5/358

Tasmania lead by 436 runs

Ponting 101 (193)
DiVenuto 165 (179) no

Tea here as the Tigers continue to dominate the Bushrangers. The Tigers added 158 runs for the loss of just one wicket in the middle session. With a mamoth lead of 436 runs it looks only a matter of time before the declaration come. Michael DiVenuto has been in oustanding for here and will have one eye on a double hundred.
