There were flashes of class from Sanath Jayasuriya and Kumar Sangakarra but the rest of the batting order never really got going.

You would need a few loaves of bread to cater for all the ducks on the Sri Lankan scorecard.

All in all, England bowled very well. Especially Matthew Hoggard, the Yorkshire seamer taking 7-80.

Matthew Hoggard finishes with outstanding figures of 7-80 on a hard pitch.

A breif passage of play remained for England to bat before lunch, but they couldn't use it without losing a wicket. Marcus Trescothick was out for 12.

I reckon its hard to bowl out a team realistically, example u bowled Sri Lanka all out in just 27.5 overs, not even a complete ODI and England 1-23 at Lunch on day 1 in just 3 overs. A inning should take around 90-100 overs and around one day.

I agree, madmick96. Madman, I'm sorry but I'm going to have to either leave this story thread for dead or hand it over for someone else to finish. I go back to school on Wednesday and my exams are from May 2nd to May 5th and I really have to concentrate as I'm not the best when it comes to mathematics or the likes. Apologies to everyone that was enjoying the thread. I can tell you that England were bowled out for 591 with Geraint Jones scoring 208, and Sri Lanka were 79-0 at tea on day one. Unfortunately that's as far as that game is going. Sorry everyone.

Keep cricketing,
Lee
