Firstly - Just been to 606 on the BBC website to see hundreds of threads about "Munich" and Manchester United. It's sick. Mostly Citeh and Liverpool fans it has to be said but some things transcend football and its a disgrace. I know some United fans have made comments about Hillsborough etc and that's as bigger disgrace. I'm quite surprised that people that think its funny to take the piss out of tragedies like these can use a computer. I'd ban anyone for life for any comment like that, but hey, its the BBC. There useless.
To the football - or lack of from my point of view. It was crap. Absolute crap. Even with 5 in midfield we were over run. We had no space, yet they had loads.
I'm often asked, "Sam, what's the difference between Scholes and Carrick?" and I often start my reply by kicking them in the crotch. The difference is thus. Ability and mentality. Carrick lacks both in comparison to Scholes. Scholes never panics on the ball. Yes, he loses it occasionally. But, under pressure, more often than not, he will find a pass. Carrick however, panics. He hoofs it. This mentality and lack of ability to keep calm means that Carrick will never be anything more than an Ok - good player. There is one similarity. They both can't bloody tackle and so are a bad choice to hold in midfield!!! It leaves us open and as Bayern found, easy to cut through.
Park should have been on Ribery's side, helping Gary "oh, my God if he had less pace he'd go backwards/I'll handball this instead of head it" Neville. Rooney had no support and yet missed two chances he should have scored. If you believe in luck, than his has changed. Missed two easy (by his standard) chances, deflected the ball past Van Der Sar for there goal, and looks like he's done a serious ankle injury.
Evra got caught out of position constantly and let his runner go all the time. His forward play has got much better this season. He seems to have neglected his major job recently though - DEFENDING. Tonight was the worst I've seen him play.
I think the subs were right. We needed someone to keep hold of the ball - Berbatov and we needed to replace Nani - Valencia. Problem is, we hoofed it clear each time. So they couldn't get into the game.
Finishing on a happy note, Rooney being injured will mean bye bye title and bye bye Champions League chances but will at least mean we don't have to suffer through a World Cup, thinking we can win it. Without Rooney, we have no chance. So, it will be a stress free world cup
