Champions League Thread (the dawn of time - 2014)

Yeah, they were hardly impressive. But then, all teams play that way when they visit the Nou Camp. All you need as an away side is a point or three, and Milan managed one.

Pleased to get the win over Leverkusen and it felt even better with Valencia dropping points against Genk. Also, maybe AVB should try playing Luiz upfront. He certainly knows where the goal is. :lol

Well I have to say, the first half of Shakhtar v Porto had everything. One of the best halfs of football I've even seen. Missed penalty off the post, another shot deflected onto the crossbar, goalkeeping howler resulting in goal, a stunning free kick for a goal, red card and some great attacking football. I had to study for English though so I didn't pay much attention in the second half.

I definitely agree. But still, with a performance like that, I don't think AC Milan will be the one to stop Barcelona.

I was very surprised to see Milan score any goals. Pato's goal was very nice though, really wasn't expecting that at all, that kid really has some talent.

Luiz does a better job than Torres:p.

That was some freekick, as was Villa's against Milan. Parejo came close as well for Valencia. Little surprised he has been given the role, still very young but I guess Emery has a good reason.

Still think Valencia can get the right results in the two games against Leverkusen, and possibly something from the two Chelsea ties to progress from the group.

Agree with the free kick. It was stunning and it was pretty much the same as Alex's hard hitting free kicks. :lol

Rami was pretty unlucky too actually with his stunning overhead kick hitting the crossbar. Another fine goal on the night was Perisic's brilliant equalizer for Dortmund against Arsenal.

And oh, Valencia won't get anything against us. :p

Barcelona's defence showed frailties once again. They need an established central defence back.

A fairly entertaining game at Eastlands. Napoli were certainly dangerous on the counter and nice move for their goal too. Can't wait for Bayern vs Man City in two weeks time.

And Inter lost at home to Trabzonspor?! Oh dear...

I have to say that I thought Utd were lucky tonight. They didn't really create anything aside from that Giggs goal and Benfica had several good chances.

There was that great chance when Giggs was 1v1 with the keeper, who saved with his legs but all in all it was a typical Champions League performance away from home.

It was a good result.

We were rubbish in the first half apart from Giggs' goal - amazingly he has scored in every single season he's played now! That record will take some breaking.

In the second half, we should've beaten them 3-1 and I would've got my ?30. :D
