Champions League Thread (the dawn of time - 2014)

He went in and headed the ball and Vidic was there and contact was made, but it was obvious the Lille player was going for the ball. But you'll disagree because your a Man U fan so I won't bother after this.

I agree with JJ3. He's right, it was a foul on Vidic. He was pushed by the Lille striker before attempting to head the ball, it's a foul end of.

As for the attitudes after the Free kick well I'm disgusted. If Lille aren't heavily punished or kicked out then it shows how weak UEFA are.

Quick free-kicks have been the norm since way back when and if your defense isn't alert enough to be aware of the possibility of the quick free-kick then you deserve to concede. Nothing unsporting at all about quick free-kicks.

The Lille players acted like absolute babies crying off like they did. It's football, deal with it.

You only usually see it in the English League. Europeans aren't used to it.

Sickening that Man U fans were crushed to the fence by Lille fans and there were bad sportsmanship from both fans and players. I agree everton if it's in the rules and if the referee agrees then the goal should be awarded. After all once a referee makes a decision, no one is going to reverse it no matter how hard they try.

Celtic drew 0-0 with Milan, Milan to me have the upper hand going into the second leg although good resistance was displayed by Celtic.

Really sucks that we loose when the opposition hardly had a decent shot on goal!We were absoluteyl woeful in the second half. Our counter-attaing play wasn't to bad in the firt, but after that we were just beyond description(Almost).

Still Arsenal at home, you'd have to back them to score a few (unfortunately :p )

Yep, that's so typical and pathetic. Accusing me of bias.

As a qualified referee it was a foul. You just have to look at the power and speed at which Vidic hit the floor, it had to be a push. And the little fact he had his hands on Vidic.

Bad sportsmanship? Erm, no. No offence Simbazz but stick to the egg-chasing :p
Everyone has a bias towards your own team, whether you realise it or not, and whether it's big or small.

That said I agree with you, rules are rules, and none were broken today. A goal in the rules is a goal.

Hmm. I thought, according to a few people, Milan were really going to struggle. It seemed to me that Milan were cruising in the match and Celtic were really feeling the heat.

The police were apparently hitting (with batons) the Man United fans on the fence when the fans couldn't go anywhere.

Nice.

Barca alraedy have the lead! I really couldn't see Liverpool beating them anyway but there still very much in it. The only teams i think would knock out Barca would be Madrid and Chelsea so i don'#t expect Liverpool to win although Benitez has a good record. Liverpool were playing quite well too

Liverpool will pwn Barca at Anfield though. If they can keep the score at only 1-0 then Barca won't stand a chance at Anfield.

Alright maybe i'm exaggerating, but Liverpool are definitley favourites at Anfield.

Nope, Liverpool just haven't got the players to beat a team like Barca. Same as they haven't got the players to beat United :noway this weekend :cheers

They haven't got the players correct, but how many times has that been said in the Champions League when big teams come to Anfield and the big team ends up being completley overwhelmed?

i thought we were playing Fulham this weekend??

Liverpool pull themselves level. If Barca can't even beat them at the Nou Camp then they have no chance at Anfield.
