Champions League Thread (the dawn of time - 2014)

Walcott definititely proved alot against Slavia Prague. Other teams should start worrying about what he might be doing in 2-3 years.

I'd like to see him on the bench for England now. He's improved so much.

Liverpool lost, what a shame :p Now heres who i reckon will go through because i'm bored ;)

Group A:
marseille and Porto, looks like too tough an as kfor Liverpool now and Besiktas won't do as well away from home.
Group B:
Chelsea and Valencia, close for the 2nd spot but i expect Valencias class to come through
Group C:
The toughest, Madrid willgo through although I still don't think they've got a good enough defense to win this tournament, i'm just guessing now but i'll go for bremen.
Group D:
Milan and benfica I reckon, Milan are classy and Benfica got a big win tonight and i think they'll get through.
Group E:
Barca and Rangers, will be realy tough for Rangers but provided they take points off Lyon they are good enough to do it, a result at the nou camp will really boost their chances too.
group F:
united and Roma, United along with Arsenal the only ones with a 100% record and thats with injurys, imagine them at full strength! Roma have a good chance of taking points off us as chances are we'll be through and play in Rome is never easy.
group G:
Inter and PSV, really taking a guess on 2nd place but Inter should be too good.
Group H:
Arsenal been class and will go through, Sevilla should be too good as well.

Now provided we come top from that bunch i would really want to avoid Valencia and sevilla wouldn't be good either. Wouldn't mind Rangers or bremen.

Now just to wait for my predictions to come true and watch United, Milan, Arsenal and Madrid end up in the Semi's :p

Liverpool overdid the long ball. They lacked any creativity and deserved to lose.

Hehehehehehehehehehehehehehee!!!!!!!

The Scousers are going out!:p:p:p:p:D:D:D:D

Hahahahahahahahhahahahaha!

To be honest, if your losing at home to Marseille, you dont deserve to go through to the next knockout round. I hope Celtic go through, but generally agree with what you've put Joe. Celtic are better than Rangers, but they were fantastic to get a draw against Barca last night.

Not sure about Walcott for England just yet to be honest, he's not properly in Arsenal's first team yet. However, I'm sure he'll be a regular for England in years to come and he's a quality talent.

Joe, Arsenal managed to beat Sevilla 3-0 at home, I'd have no problems with them. Likewise, Chelski won away at Valencia.

What a pessimistic dick Paul Merson is!

It kills him to give Arsenal a proper chance. You'd think after giving up the drink and drugs, he'd have a more optimistic view on life. Pssh!

Still the best of the 2nd placed sides for me, Sevilla are still a good side, just don't think they knew how to deal with Arsenal in their current form, Valencia are a good team and provided they qualify an away game against them will be very tough, Chelsea arguably werent the best side and it was a very good result for them. obviously if the dippers get through then there the ones to avoid.

True. Sevilla havent quite been able to rediscover the form of the last two seasons, but having said that, I think the way the Gunners have been playing this season, they would have beaten the strongest and inform Sevilla side as well.

Valencia used to be a model of consistency, but unfortunately under that ass quique flores, they have been the exact opposite. One of the best teams in Spain that somehow loses crucial games.

I was so glad to see Robinho play the way he did yesterday. If he can keep this up for the full season, then we will have a great chance of winning the champions league.

Man Liverpool haven't been playing good lately and dont really deserve to go through. Played really bad agaisnt Marseille, ecspecially seems it was at home.

Hmm...not good. I'll still believe, as long as Kuyt and Voronin NEVER play up front together again. Because if we play well can will all 3 games. Still if we don't we should win the UEFA cup.

What does Rafa see in Voronin?

Not sure, he's put in some decent performances but not done a great deal. Really missing Agger, Alonso and Torres. Sissoko has admitted he's not playing well (he said himself he played **** from a direct quote) so he might get better.

Lol, typical englishman.

He has one good game, against a crap team and he is worthy of an England place. He's only just made the under 21 team and is the youngest member of the under 21's. There are much more worthy players than Walcott. Lampard, Bentley, Ashley Young, just to name a few. Walcott is NOWHERE near ready to play for England, Sven was an idiot to select him for the WC. McLaren would be as stupid to select him now.

Lampard, Bentley and Ashley Young play don't play in the same position though. Not that i'm saying I approve of calling up Walcott though. Bent, Defoe, Crouch, Heskey, Rooney, Owen and Agbonlahor should all be ahead of him in the pecking order.

Well it depends where we're playing Walcott, but KP is right, he's nowhere near an England spot yet, that was only his first CL game.

Got my Besiktas shirt on tonight :p I think the scousers will win however, Crouch to bag a few.
