I will keep you updated with the goings on at my Battrick team, Civic Gardens, in this thread.

My first match since taking over the side was on 5th August, it was a friendly against Chorley, Simbazz's team. I didn't expect to win at all, he told me he had been promoted and promoted again since taking charge, this didn't fill me with hope!

Chorley innings: 304/4 (Harvey 122)
Civic Gardens innings: 118 all out (Oak 4/25)

Chorley won by 186 runs

-----

At the time, my best eleven and my training regime had not been made so I got help from Voldemort and I ended up with a well balanced, strong line up with the players doing some work in the nets.

Since then, I have had 3 one-day league matches and won them all!

Rozzers innings: 237 all out (Sipho 5/35)
Civic Gardens innings: 238/3 (Moyo 87)

Civic Gardens won by 7 wickets

------

Spider dogs innings: 198 all out (Akram 5/30)
Civic Gardens innings: 199/2 (Lucas 89)

Civic Gardens won by 8 wickets

------

Yorkshire innings: 146 all out (Sipho 5/9)
Civic Gardens innings: 150/0 (Boyd 83 not out)

Civic Gardens won by 10 wickets

------

This fine form meant that my team finished in second place in the league table, winning 9 out of the 14 matches. The 5 defeats all happened before I took control. I had the same record as the league champions, the Jimbob XI, but I only missed out on top spot because of a slightly inferior Net Run Rate.

For my high league finish, I was awarded ?25,000.

My next match is tomorrow in the BT20, Battrick's Twenty20 competition. I don't know how it will go yet as I have never played Twenty20 cricket on Battrick before.

I will keep you posted!

My first match in the BT20, Battrick's Twenty20 competition, ended up as a surprising victory!

High Lane innings: 166/0 (Hines 103 not out)
Civic Gardens innings: 168/1 (Moyo 79 not out)

Civic Gardens won by 9 wickets

After being smashed in the first few overs, and finding out that High Lane had scored 166/0 from their 20 overs, it is understandable that I wasn't fancying our chances, but my in-form batsmen got me home to my first win in Twenty20.

The victory came a day after I made this press release:

Civic Gardens are looking forward to their first taste of Twenty20 cricket tomorrow, when they play away at High Lane.

Coach Lee Payne said it would be difficult to devise a winning formula.

"We have found a winning way in 50 overs a side cricket but Twenty20 will be a whole new kettle of fish."

Seeing his chance, the 15-year-old also declared his disinterest in buying any new players in the transfer market over the off-season.

"We have a complimentary, well balanced squad and we are not in desperate need of new faces."

Bloody hell! Where there any bowlers playing in that match? 1 wicket in a 20/20?

Great start to your season/career.

After a good performance to win my first match in the BT20 yesterday, Civic Gardens were brought back down to earth with a bump today after a heavy defeat at the hands of the D3vilfish Dreamers from division 3.1.

D3vilfish Dreamers innings: 202/0 (Keene 130)
Civic Gardens innings: 124 all out (Brooker 71, Mckie 6/6)

D3vilfish Dreamers won by 78 runs

-----

For the second consecutive match, my bowlers failed to take a single wicket in the innings. Ken Keene, their captain, scored 130 off 72 balls.

Their opening bowler, Horace Mckie, slaughtered my batsmen with 6 wickets for 6 runs. The only bright spot of my innings was my number seven, Nick Brooker, who scored 71 off 40 balls.

The team looked in danger of being bowled out for even less than The Blind Society yesterday, who were skittled for just 10 runs, much to the embarrasment of coach Zorax.

Nice start. Getting a total above 202 is just far too hard. You would be hoping that you would get a better bowler in the future. Just one good bowler can really just help to get your team to the win.

I didn't give you permission to use my match to make yourself look good!! :(

Civic Gardens were beaten for a second successive match in the BT20 today with a mauling from the Exeter Bulldogs from division 4.27.

Civic Gardens innings: 76 all out (Lineker 6/1)
Exeter Bulldogs innings: 77/0

Exeter Bulldogs won by 10 wickets

The defeat leaves me in 4th place in the group table, 8 points behind the teams in 1st, 2nd and 3rd places with a far inferior net run rate.

Below is my record as coach now:

Matches Played: 7
Matches Won: 4
Matches Tied and No Results: 0
Matches Lost: 3

Bad luck, mate. Must have a tough group. But losses are expected for new players.

Trust me you must be playing against good opposition. Don't get to disheartned about it. You will get better over time.

Civic Gardens went down fighting in their latest match in the BT20 today.

Opening bowler Peter Donohoe took 4/40 as the team took their first ever wicket in Twenty20.

Team Shashu innings: 196/8 (Fortune 58, Donohoe 4/40)
Civic Gardens innings: 160 all out (Boyd 65, Mulligan 5/23)

Team Shashu won by 36 runs

I was on top for a big part of my innings until four successive ducks plunged me to another defeat.

A typical Battrick collapse cost you. Mulligan destroyed you. Keep your head up the wins will start coming.

After three successive defeats in the BT20, Civic Gardens fought back with an 8 wicket victory over Les Diables Rouge today.

Les Diables Rouge innings: 121/8 (Burnip 61 not out)
Civic Gardens innings: 123/2 (Moyo 72)

Civic Gardens won by 8 wickets

I was pleased with this after my recent performances. All of my bowlers took at least one wicket each and Curtis Moyo's 72 runs came off just 48 balls, proving my batsmen can do the job in Twenty20.

The team now have a two-day break before their final two matches in the group stage, and probably the entire tournament, on Monday and Tuesday.

Ownage by you there. Batsmen didn't give in. Bowlers set you up the win though. Well done on, on the victory.

Civic Gardens returned to action after a two-day break today and recorded a comprehensive victory over Senland in the BT20.

Senland innings: 160/2 (Hull 78 not out)
Civic Gardens innings: 161/0 (Lucas 83 not out)

Civic Gardens won by 10 wickets

Once again, my bowlers struggled to take wickets in Twenty20 matches but my batsmen played well, especially Clark Lucas who scored 83 not out off just 49 balls.

With only one game left I can't qualify for the knock-out stages but overall I think this has been a successful, respectable tournament, especially for my first taste of Twenty20. It has definetely been better than The Blind Society's tournament!

Below is my record as coach in Twenty20 matches:

Matches Played: 6
Matches Won: 3
Matches Tied and No Results: 0
Matches Lost: 3
