The Middle Period: Overs 15-35
The powerplay is taken after things started happening during the fielding restrictions with Australia needing just 75 more runs at 2.1 an over. Mohammed Rafique was brought into the attack just after the drinks break but Michael Hussey had decided to unleash moving very quickly to 30 but he soon hit a stall with Mohammed Rafique causing him to play and miss numerous times.
Soon enough Michael Hussey eventually fell to Saqibul Hasan after seeming to hit a roadblock he was out for 39 off 79 balls and truly played patiently to secure that Australia would get to this small total.
Shane Watson is the new batsmen and Australia but immediately two balls later Phil Jaques falls for 15 edging a Mohammed Rafique delivery to the slip.
Michael Clarke is in the middle and the Bangladesh spinners are bowling very well and seem to building momentum. Shane Watson is the next to fall trapped infront by Mohammed Rafique for just 13 and Australia need just 23 runs with 5 wickets remaining
Adam Gilchrist joins Michael Clarke at the crease and they start to put the final nails in the coffin. Mohammed Rafique has finished his allotted 10 overs with figures of 2-41 something which he should be proud of but it has been Abdur Razzak who has kept the pressure on all day letting just 2 runs per over.
Adam Gilchrist hits two consecutive fours to bring victory for the Australians and after a very skeptical decision at the toss Ricky Ponting has led his side to victory by a margin of 5 wickets.
Batting
Bowling
Once again the Bangladesh batsmen continued their hit and miss form with the only bright light being Tamim Iqbal, their bowlers performed but with just 120 runs to play with they were never in with a chance against a brilliant Australian batting lineup.
Tamim Iqbal will be interviewed by Athar Ali Khan in between the 1st and 2nd one day internationals and if you have any questions for him please send them in
