What is going on!! In my County Championship match Vettori didn't bowl and now in my FP Trophy match Gibson doesn't bowl. Something strange is going on around here
REPORT
Nottinghamshire made use of their fifty overs by scoring a massive 325/9 on what looked a slow pitch. The batsmen played very well indeed laying a foundation for the rest to come in and have a go at the bowling. Bicknell managed 57 in a 101 run opening partnership with Gallian before Hussey, Butcher and Franks all made scores in the thirties. The bowlers for Hampshire had a horrible time and all found it tough going. To everyone's surprise the man who picked up most wickets was Kevin Pietersen who finished with figures of 3-61. Shane Warne, Sachin Tendulkar and Dmitri Mascarenhas all got two apiece but none were economical. Hampshire would have to bat very well to have any chance of winning the match.
REPORT
Hampshire had a go at reaching the target of 326 to win but ended up well short and were eventually bowled out for 216 which meant a loss of over 100 runs. Graeme Smith and Stokes put on 70 but the only other three men that got twenty or above were Pietersen, Crawley and Burrows. Pietersen made 30 from 31 balls and was looking dominant until Ealham picked up the prized wicket. Nottinghamshire didn't bowl that well but they did enough and Hampshire had three run outs in their innings proving that only seven wickets needed to be taken otherwise it could have been a different story. Patel span the ball and picked up three wickets while Gallian got two and Ealham and Hall each got a wicket to their names.
Overall Nottinghamshire should be very pleased with their performance and they get the two points. The Man of the Match award went to Bicknell for making a brilliant half century to set Notts on their way. Spin proved to be the way at the Rose Bowl which was interesting for both teams. Overall a great match!
