Cricket 19 General Discussion

Anyone else noticing the old AI hitting last ball of an over for a boundary? Playing an odi and AI doesn't want to hit many gaps, just whip a ball off the 6th stump line for 4 or 6 on the last ball
No such issue in my game. Run rate set at 80 in ODI.
My issue with the lofted shot selection by AI. Most of them are flicks to the legside.

Guys i didnt update since 1.03. Is it advisable to update to 1.05 considering AI batting is not so great on it as per the comments here?? Btw just ordered the switch as well just to play Cricket 19 on it..

Does anyone know if stats are tracked in tours and competitions?

I’m playing a Custom Competition. Stats are definitely updating game to game and even innings to innings I think. This is on PS4 and upto date with patches.

Eg: Picked Hameed for England, walked out with three Test matches to his name, next match 4, next match 5 with average etc amending correctly. This is on the info on screen when player walks out to bat or comes onto bowl.

In competition make sure everything is correct before you start. I’m using Associate teams so had to amend their grading in identity for stats to show as Tests, for me and them, and ensure game type as Tests obviously. That means all my opposition player’s stats are starting from zero and updating every game.

Also, as in previous games, you’re 35-man squad is locked in for the competition even if you amend outside of competition. So if you’re doing a lengthy Test league like me and want to cover your options get squad your sorted before you start, including correcting incorrect things like an LS bowler being listed as OS.

Also, you can change the venues, my first three home matches defaulted to the same ground but you can change them.

Sorry, went slightly off your question but hopefully helpful to people.

Edit: my only concern is what will happen at the end, once I’ve finished and start a new competition. Will the ten or eleven matches I play have been applied? Should I delete the competition? Think it worked correctly back in DBC 14

Patch 1.05 is good. At present I am playing a test match. Yeah it's definitely better than 1.04

Can anyone playing patch 1.05 confirm if the Leg side power shot results in umpiring giving one bouncer for the over or even no ball?
Also are the straight drives still going in the air?

I'm on PS4 and the straight drives are played in the air. Lot of caught and bowled dismissals when I try to play straight.

I think it's because you're playing too late. I also was struggling with that but better timing fixes it.

I've seen quite a few shots go in the air even when I get Good or Ideal timing. In fact yesterday I nailed a full toss with Ideal feedback for all 3 (footwork, timing and shot choice) and was caught by the bowler. It went off like a bullet off the bat and should've been a 4 but the fast bowler caught it without a problem.

That's another thing I can't figure out. Some times bowlers don't react to a ball they can easily stop and then out of the blue they stop or catch an impossible shot which they should've no hope of doing realistically. For the time being I've stopped playing straight drives and try to hit towards long on/off instead of absolutely straight down the ground, i.e. just past the bowler.

Just to highlight the AI variation in this game im playing through a full World Cup.

Australia batted first on a Dry pitch and India batted first on a Standard pitch.

In my opinion Spin is a little too effective. The AI struggles against them badly in the middle overs...

Two very contrasting innings with exactly the same settings...

Exactly. I'm really happy with how the gameplay is at the moment. You never quite know what will happen. Which is how it should be in real life!

I was Playing Game 3 Of the World Cup Today as I am playing the world cup also Malinga Was Bowling at me and I was freaking out he so quick I had to block him out his action scary

IMO three things would help make AI extremely competitive...
1. Running aggressively and taking 1s and 2s on offer.
2. As you mentioned, batting better against spinners. AI bats very conservatively against spinners and edges quite a lot as well going for that cover/square drive shot. AI needs to score more against spinners without losing bunch of wkts to them.
3. Enhanced match awareness. You still see AI not batting as per match situation. Even if they have plenty of wkts in hand, they don't really go full tilt and you always feel that AI left a few runs in the field.
