I played my first match but i am still not able to understand why i am not able to edit starting lineup , its so frustrating can please someone help me out on this issue??

You can in the opening match screen: edit line ups its called (ooh what a giveaway! ) Unless I am misunderstanding your question.

unless its career mode, in which case you need to be captain first.

Don't think so. They would just revert to the default names and uniforms that came with the game.

I should also add, that if you download teams again, then the academy players should match up with the same default players as before.
