Cricket 22 General Discussion thread (Use bug report thread for issues/bugs/crashes | Patch notes in first post)

The shot you shared hits the ball to the Point. We're saying it's not possible at the moment to hit the ball through the arc between Cover fielder and Point. See the OP and the comments in the following thread and compare the wagon wheels posted there...

There's a huge chasm in the wagon wheel in the Cover region, i.e. you can hit either to the Cover fielder or to Point but nothing in between against pacers. That wasn't the case in Cricket 19.

As an experiment take a team of right handers, bat against fast bowlers, try to hit cover drives, and look at the wagon wheel. And if you've Cricket 19, do the same thing there as well and compare the wagon wheels. You'll get your answer, and it shouldn't take you more than 30-40 mins to do so.
What about this one then?

Are you using aggressive shot, i.e. with triggers? Coz I'm on PS4 and am unable to hit a regular/standard drive (i.e. no triggers/modifiers) in the direction you showed.

Nope - pro controls, grounded shots and I’m able to pull them off quite frequently. It is easier with batsman like Smith, Labuschange but not with others. As I said, you’ve to have the right adjustments - ball away from the body, good player skills and this would happen.
Balls closer to the body always go to the extra covers or mid off

I'm struggling with hitting through that area, and as you mention it could very well be a function of batsman style or specific attributes. If that's the case, Big Ant need to make the shot much more accessible. Drive through covers is pretty much a staple shot, and should be able to be played easily. So far I've not been able to hit through that region even once despite playing for hours means something is wrong. And it's not just me who's struggling as be seen by comments from other folks.

In any typical short format match, say odis, you see batsmen drive the ball through that region for a single to sweeper cover area, or drive the ball for a 4 on a regular basis in Tests. I'm not seeing that in the game.

Why fast bowler deliveries with ideal jump and release are given no balls in PC? Can any help me with the big ant official forum where i can report bugs ?

If only they could use the new shot and bowling animations in Cricket 19. Also fix the fielding and a bit of physics, then we could have an awesome game. Maybe a Dlc with BBL and updated rosters

Couldn't agree more. Fix the fielding & field sets, or give the ability for users to disable pre-built fields, and add leg side shot (especially behind square on the leg side), and we're all set!

Now we're back to the same old cycle of fixing things to bring the game to the same level as the previous iteration.

I just played a Five5 on Hard (PS4) and things seemed reasonably normal.

I struggled a bit with bat but hit a few. They held some catches. I took some wickets (Caught behind off pace and bowled by spin). No crazy overthrows and new fielding mechanic never came up. Fielders were generally okay, not dawdling. Commentators recognised result.

I’m even getting used to the look of the players!

What about this one then?

I would request you to try an experiment:
Start a casual game, a T20 or odi in cricket 22, bat against any pacer. Please check that there's a cover and a point in place and a gap in between. Now try and hit that gap. To make it simpler, give your batter some room towards the off side by moving to the leg side a little bit. Now try to score by hitting that gap with standard shots only, no aggressive/ special shots. Bat for a few overs, maybe 5. You'll notice that on several occasions, even with 3 good/ ideal inputs, and even when you're aiming precisely, the ball will go directly towards the fielder at cover.

Now try the same experiment in Cricket 19.

I'm sure you'll see the difference for yourself. If you're batting really well i.e. aiming precisely and getting good/ ideal inputs almost all the time, you'll see that your score, after 5/6 overs, will be much higher in cricket 19 compared to cricket 22

The reason for this is that on Cricket 22, you can only find that gap when you get some room i.e. the ball is far from the body. When it happens, the computer instead of executing a cover drive or back foot punch, will execute a "throw your hands at it" shot. In cricket 19, this is not the case. You can find that gap even when the ball is a little bit closer to you, by playing a cover drive or back foot punch.

Completion designer is accessible on ps5. I just played a ODI tri series with this. Open completion and there is an option to create a new completion on Ps5
Hi, many thanks.

I’m aware of Competition Mode including preset series and create your own which is similar but it’s not the Designer is it? I mean where previously we could create for example a 16-team double round robin Test league with finals, choose the points and trophy etc, the actual Designer.
