Cricket 22 General Discussion thread (Use bug report thread for issues/bugs/crashes | Patch notes in first post)

How do you nudge/push the ball into gaps for singles? Watching England now during the powerplay pushing regularly for singles but never see this in game from the AI or know how to do it myself.

Also how to move feet outside off/leg stump to give more room? Seems like I can only move feet directly back or directly forward?

Using pro controls for batting.

Press conferences are definitely broken for some of us on the Xbox S X :(.

I've played a specialist batsman career I'd already created weeks ago through to club captaincy & county championship recruitment level over this weekend & no press conferences have come through at all.

The man of the match cut scene is now broken too & only shows the cheque being given then it closes before the rest of the TV interview.

In an existing career I also only got one sponsor through but with this new career I got all 4 x sponsors all at once as soon as I was promoted to county level.

Career mode clearly still has a lot of issues that dearly need fixing.
I'm in 2nd season at County level and have never had a press conference and haven't seen a cut scene this season. I'm career modes biggest fan but there are so many things missing, disappeared or just not working and that's not even including the broken fielding and my players fast bowling. Really hope one of the patches is dedicated to career mode soon

It's not just bouncers down the leg side though. Any short ball on a hard pitch goes to the moon. It was a problem in C19 and it's back in C22. Sliders don't fix it.
Hmmmm, I'm just not seeing it. With a decent pitch bounce and bouncer slider, the keeper takes it every time for me on every type of surface, medium or hard. He has to jump a bit, it's above his head, but he doesn't just ignore it.

And the ball is still behaving naturally when bowled as well, bounce wise. Not like I'm having to completely kill every pitch to get it to behave for a bouncer.

I'm on PS4, if it makes any difference, IDK.

I’ve had a couple of byes from bouncers but usually on line rather than height

Yeh there is a massive imbalance in this game with regards to singles and twos. the AI fielding seems to be 5x quicker than when i field too.

The other thing annoying me with the game is the Run Rate. Im currently trying T20s at the moment, Windies vs England, and no matter what i do windies bat at about 10 per over when the slider is on 50 Run rate. It just feels like it's on rails.

There is never a time when i can keep them down at 2/3 in an over and build pressure for a few overs. There just feels like there is no ebb and flow to the game where the AI decide to dig in and rebuild, they are just totally programmed to hit the set RR per over and noting you do can impact it. is anyone else experiencing this?

If anyone has some settings they use for T20 i'd be keen to hear it. Or tactics for bowling/fields!

Bouncers, run rate and overpowered batsmen can all be sorted with a few slider changes that would take less time to do than it did to come and type your message my friend.

In my experience, the bouncer issue appears to be more of chucking bouncers down the leg side rather than excessive bounce, but it's an easy fix regardless.
Sliders dont help online play at all!!

These last 2 or 3 patches have made a complete mess of the career mode :(. (Not that it's been great since day one but it definitely sustained more damage in recent patches.)

1. AI NEVER drops any chances anymore, everything is caught, (even if I'm bowling). A difficult one to get right, granted, as sometimes the drops seem incessant but right now C22 is on a par with the Ashes Cricket's catch all system.

2. Press conferences are now broken & no longer work.

3. Perks won't level up.

4. AI batters are massively overpowered when facing humans, sometimes hitting 4 or 5 sixes per over in T20's & run rates remain absolutely out of control. (I've just had a run of matches where the AI team has posted consecutive totals of 240+.) I've also just had a match where I went for 83 off just 3 overs & that's a common occurrence rather than just a single bad match. Thankfully the ridiculous back foot cut shot off full balls has been drastically cut down but it's now been replaced with this ridiculous new shot where an AI batsman can step right outside their off stump (outside of the wide markers in fact) & pull/hook absolutely everything bowled to the offside, or they now incessantly back foot slog over the covers. (A huge list of available shots the AI can choose from & as with C19 it seems to get stuck using just 2 to score.) AI batters also rarely miss or mis-time, even low order batters have consistently perfect timing.

I've also just seen another AI batter get 143 (69) not out, 10 x sixes, 16 x fours, with just 10 singles from that innings which is an utterly ridiculous tempo to maintain & it's happening match after match without fail. 6's & 4's have become the absolute rule & singles or dots the rare exceptions which is ludicrous.

Worse still, when I'm at the non-striker's end I routinely watch my AI batting partners waft or completely mis-time on 3 or 4 deliveries in a row screwing the run rate & causing intense pressure at my end without fail. Yet, the AI shifts from behaving like a genuine number 11 when facing another AI bowler & becomes Brian damn Lara the moment a human bowler steps up. (Clearly it's not like the AI can't be scripted to behave within a certain limit if it can suddenly start wafting or mis-timing off another AI.)

5. Slips now 95% useless. In early patches I still used to get regular slip catches off my bowling, (usually at 2nd slip). Recently 2nd or 3rd slip have literally become decoration only & no longer serve any purpose whatsoever. If I use a 1st slip with a leg spinner very rarely I can get a wicket but it's from something daft like a keeper fumbling & bumping the ball up to 1st slip or a ball bouncing up off a keepers knee pad to slip, there's never any truly genuine slip catches anymore.

6. I'm only ever offered 2 teams from overseas competitions, never the full selection of teams that should be available for me to choose from.

7. It's impossible to get a run out as a bowler. (If you tap right bumper/shoulder as the ball is being returned & mash A at the right time sometimes it'll attempt to stump but the game has been poorly scripted so that there's never any run outs in a career. I haven't even had one close chance & the AI NEVER makes any running mistakes in a career.)

The career mode was undoubtedly the best part of previous iterations but it remains a dysfunctional, broken down mess in C22 :(!!
As someone who plays the career mode only I can safely say that except from the press conference point, every other point is inaccurate. If you play as a spinner the chances are true like you mentioned unless the spin bowling revolutions are upped to 80. If you are playing as a fast bowler slip catching, going under 6 an over in T20, etc is a possibility.

You just need to find right slider combos and whole game strategy. AI scores between 130 to 190 in career mode against my team with my figures ranging between 20 - 54 in 4 overs quota.

Still waiting to hear if they fixed that whole "you can't hit a ball in the gap on the offside with analog controls" thing.

One thing that has annoyed me over the last couple of iterations, and it’s only relatively minor, is the (almost complete) removal of retro kit and equipment and the older style buildings in stadium creator.
I get that it has happened since the Bradman deal ended. But there’s a strong retro team community, and it just irks me slightly when great features I’ve enjoyed disappear as the game “progresses”.
I get why it happens. But still a little annoying.

How do you hit the gaps exactly? What type of shots/controls?
Been working fine for me too, on Xb-one if that makes a difference, I'm able to hit anywhere between straight, and backward point with front foot drives (all gaps, aswell as fielders), and anywhere from roughly cover, to 1st slip off the back foot (drives/cuts/ramps). Doesn't seem any different to C19 in this area now.

Edit:
Using pro controls or whatever they're called now, the analog sticks. Hardest difficulty base, with a few slider tweaks re: bounce/revolutions etc

I'm not having problems with the ball going over the keeper but I've had to stop using the bouncer because I keep getting called for wides.I just use cross seam and pitch it short.Im on PS5.
