Cricket 22 General Discussion thread (Use bug report thread for issues/bugs/crashes | Patch notes in first post)

Confused about the after-touch thingy. According to the in-game tutorial, it can be used to alter the bowling length. That's fine. But does moving the after-touch circle to positions like 3'o clock or 9'o clock actually do anything to the line of the ball (PRO controls)?.

General consensus is that after touch is useless when using pro controls sadly

Making bowling easier does just that, the AI will stay on the difficulty you have set them to
So then what's the point of the overall difficulty level? If I'm changing the bowling difficulty shouldn't it just be how hard it is to bowl ideal balls? And overall difficulty impacting AI?

If sliders worked this wouldn't be a problem :)

I have just paused and deleted the .0004 patch from installing, the ball physics are very good and enjoyable for me so I’ll have to make do with the fielding bugs for the time being

Never seen a more passionate developer than BA in my whole gaming experience.

Your correct…

I bowl on hardest and then turn all the meters off.. and time jump and release by watching the bowler. Real test but the AI are then different as they will get bad balls.

if you drop the bowling difficulty it will still make the overall difficulty feel different as your probably bowling more perfect perfects to it!

So day 1 as soon as I saw the issue with forward defensive I couldn’t bat.

Trying it now with defence fixed I just batted 21 overs in an Ashes test and it was pretty good. I don’t find an issue with the ball physics j think it comes on well on default physics but then I always did in c19 too when others found that floaty.

I can’t say there’s anything added by 22 that wasn’t in 19, but actually I’d say a minor improvement in less regular field changes (still too often for a test IMO.) The bowling was good lines, challenging - it was an enjoyable experience.

What I’d like added is more depth to the in game sounds. We’ve heard the fielders shout “good areas buddy” and “great nut” a million times in c19 and it’s a shame they didn’t refresh this. It would also add to the immersion if they would comment on your performance... not sledging exactly but you know if you miss a few a fielder shouts “he’s on the ropes now...” that kind of thing you know. Would refresh the feel too and add a bit of pressure.

And putting that in game stuff through the ps5 controller mic would be sensational

The atmosphere is a bit meh. Maybe I had in game sounds turned up higher in 19, this feels all a bit more muted.

I’m feeling more positive at the moment. Player models are a big let down and I really didn’t enjoy the bowling experience the other day so I guess when I get round to bowling we will see if there any improvement there.

Some other mixed things - couple nice dives (one on boundary, one in covers) to stop the ball in the field. But dive should be the default not rare - too often they run alongside it. Especially if you’re gonna beat the fielder they run in past the ball: it would be so more satisfying to beat the dive.
Couple poor reviews from AI - Patty Cummins fluffing his first big job as skipper!
Lyon on bowling Day 1 after 20 overs.
No sign of pitch wear.

I guess it’s just really hard to pinpoint anything and say “that, that’s better than 19”...

Maybe some of the shots felt easier to execute/more naturally animated I guess.

I see, I don't think I'll be turning the meter off anytime soon. I have it on and I'm getting smashed around I have to watch that meter like a hawk kind of annoying especially as the new animations for bowlers I have to say are really really good, gives a nice feel to the game even if it doesn't affect anything

Best way to describe it is that the AI difficulty impacts how’s good they are, whereas the bowling, batting and fielding difficulty impacts how easy/hard it is for you to execute ‘your’ skills. So in theory you could have it on legendary and then easiest bowling, meaning you always bowl the perfect ball, but the AI is able to deal with it

Ok so doing a bit of testing..

Firstly @GuyIncognito does the physics look like the old physics or the ones you don’t like in this video..

Secondly for everyone I highly highly recommended smashing down you pitch bounce to 25-35 depending on what pitch type you want. This stopped the AI playing off the back shot regularly. Infact unless I dropped it short they played everything off the front foot. It also eliminated any uppercut or weird shots.

Grassy pitch seamed about a bit but the sunny conditions may of counteracted it.

@Punk_Sk8r this is what no meter bowling is like.. it’s a tough old job but very fun to learn it.

No sign of pitch wear.
I haven't played since yesterday so it may have been patched out but I simmed three tests - at Lords, at Delhi Park and Sabina Park and took a screenshot of each day at each ground. There was a definite difference in the way the pitch looked, particularly at Sabina Park. I had turned on pitch wear to 'fast' to be fair.

So it is there but I have no idea whether it's cosmetic or if it actually affects the gameplay
