Cricket 22 General Discussion thread (Use bug report thread for issues/bugs/crashes | Patch notes in first post)

Yes - with the descriptions we had to go from, at least from what I could see/find, we couldn't work out exactly what people were referring to - batting has had some fairly significant changes, and I hope for the most parts improvements, since the game 6 or so weeks ago, which means isolating a thing that was good is more difficult. Maybe there was a really good post I missed, or a support ticket really early on that didn't get prioritised with the level of importance it would have needed, that would have meant getting on top of this particular case a lot sooner.

@Abcd9994's video above is excellent and has put us on the right track, we've found some things, and continuing to fine tune. That won't make it into today's update as that's already locked away, but hopefully there will be something in the next one.

I'm fine for everyone to just assume we're all idiots and have no clue if that will mean people will give the extra bit of info that helps us find what's being talked about. I want to find the problems you're raising, and sometimes yeah, that will mean I'll need to ask what to you might seem like a dumb question, or that we haven't seen something "obvious". Sometimes it takes a little nudge, or the right description, or there's one specific factor we hadn't considered.
Hi @MattW request you to please take a look at this video (just 1:20 mins), have tried to explain the issue with back foot shots through the off side (cover point region):


Basically when user tries to hit the ball through cover-point region (standard attacking shots) against pace bowler, I think it would either be a cut shot or a back foot drive/punch. Now the issue that we face is 2 fold:

a. Many times the computer simply executes the guide to third man shot instead of the cut or the drive/punch. I think this is a bug because we are trying to place the ball in front of square whereas the batsman plays the ball behind square, even when we have 3 greens on our input.

b. Sometimes the computer does play the back foot punch/drive shot. When this happens however, the ball simply goes straight to the standard cover position- this issue was earlier present in both front foot and back foot play but was resolved for front foot play some patches ago, I am thinking now, that maybe it was never resolved for the back foot play.

In addition, I personally feel the backfoot cut shot is underpowered compared to drives especially straight drives- even with 3 greens on my input it is a bit difficult to hit the ball far when playing a backfoot cut shot. Now I am not sure if it's the front foot drives that need to be toned down or if it's the backfoot cut that needs to be powered up. I also don't feel like this is the burning issue, the primary concern is the first 2 points I think.

In Cricket 19, obviously (b) was not an issue- it worked perfectly. For (a), I think that in such cases where computer is playing guide to 3rd man- it was actually the back foot punch/drive that was played in C19- not 100% sure but I feel that's how it was. Hope this helps, request everyone to please correct me if any of the above is wrong / feel free to add to this.

That is indeed perfect as it displays exactly what many have complained about for many weeks now. (Awesome video @Abcd9994 , very well done indeed ;)!! I recall you made a very similar video about the broken cover drives/lofted cover drives when BA apparently couldn't see them either which was also incredibly helpful towards a direct fix. Thank you.)

This isn't the first video posted that highlighted this issue & as someone else has just pointed out all of the regular streamers who specifically upload Cricket 22 content to their channels have not only continued to directly highlight this issue for weeks, but they've broken it down as @Abcd9994 has also just done, & directly reported it as well.

With every new patch each week multiple forum members would directly ask if the back foot drive had been fixed as well. Followed by a flock of posts expressing the inevitable disappointment to discover it had been missed yet again & I think that's what has made it such an incredibly frustrating experience.

We'll just have to hope some good can finally now come of this as you can see from this video, it is genuinely impossible to miss had someone simply checked it. It's fundamentally game breaking, it's 100% persistent & re-creatable & has been for 6 weeks.

There is another shot that's currently broken off a spin bowler too, but rather than increase the risk of two changes in turn knocking something else out of sync, I'll post another reminder when this shot is finally fixed.

Personally, I don't assume you're all idiots & again I'll apologise for any frustration on my part. As I recently pointed out in another C22 thread, I'm well entrenched on the "arsehole scale" & I've undoubtedly adopted the fine art of having a damn good whinge from a long military career ;). (It's when that whingeing stops you really want to start worrying ;)!!) This thread has become a monster, there's no doubt of that & it would take a great deal of time & effort to read everything. Although, the issues with this particular broken shot have been well documented over the past few weeks, reported, & names often @tagged.

If it's finally to be properly looked at with a fix in mind, fair enough :).

I'd just ask then - if there are videos that do highlight an issue, please link to them in a post if you think they've been 'missed' in a patch. I also wouldn't advise waiting thinking we can only single task.

Genuinely that's the first video I've personally seen of this. I don't myself directly see tickets unless someone links/forwards them to me, so they may have been on there and just the info never landed with the right people to get it sorted, so my apologies to anyone who had sent such a video through support.

This is just my personal opinion. The batting is really good in the game but the fielding needs a lot of improvement and the AI field placements. Personally, playing with the pro controls I'm able to play all the shots I want so batting is okay. But after a point you will feel that batting is so simple because fielders either react slow to a moving ball or there is no fielder in a certain area where runs are piled on.

In first class matches majority of my runs come via cover drive, square cut and drives between mid on and point. Even when my career player crosses 80 hardly there are any boundary riders. Not sure whether there is a set number of runs a batsman has to score before AI decides to go defensive but things like that does make a big impact. If AI can react to situations like that.. The overall gameplay experience would be much more good.

I set Shoot and Foot placement difficulties under 10 and early timing to 3, late to 6 in hardest difficulty... by doing this now I can play some satisfying front foot shots and find narrow gaps everywhere in the ground... also there are plenty of edges and early shot playing creates plenty of in-field catches...
But disappointing thing is back foot and advance to pitch shots.. it is underpowered, legside back foot shots are good on some level, but offside it is really bad... also I personally like to see more missed shot on front foot... I gets plenty of miss shot on backfoot, but none on front foot... I like to see major percentage of late timed shots convert in to missed shots in both front and back foot shot playing...
Also major improvement needed in pure bowlers and bowling all-rounder Batting ability and timing... they always feel like pure batsman in both manual and AI Batting...

@MattW any chance of world view tab along side star career mode? It will be super cool , also it will be criminal to not allow ultimate team mode for offline and couch multiplayer as the online player base is not much big.
 
Hi guys not sure if I’m on the right thread here I’m pretty nee to the game and just discovered the skills and perks section I’m 9
Years into a career as a spinner and my rating is 89 but on my skills and perks section my turn rating is 65. Any suggestions on how to crank this up and does using classic controls enable more spin ? Thank you

Can we please get an option to choose from dynamic lineups and fixed lineups in career mode ?
Custom playfaces created by community are of no use in career as new players appears . I know its logical that players will retire and new players will come.
Bit to utilize the creations and dreams of player to play in a team with their fav. star players is not possible right now.
So to have a option to choose between fixed and dynamic lineups would be great.
