Cricket 24 - General Discussion

I think they’ve gone down 100 players being licensed, pretty sure it was 300 when it was first announced, now it mentions 200 players

From the Cricket 22 Press Release:

"All-new bowling and fielding controls; whether it’s a feisty fast bouncer, or the satisfying “snap” as you hurl the ball from the infield for a precision run-out, Cricket 22 features refined, tight controls that enable you to play your best game of cricket."

From the Cricket 24 Press Release:

"All new fielding; A complete overhaul of the fielding systems to provide the most realistic and responsive fielding controls ever seen in a cricket video game."

Imagine creating "refined, tight controls that enable you to play your best game of cricket", then overhauling them just 2 years later....

Also,

Cricket 22:

"A deep, narrative-driven career mode; you are in control on and off the field. You manage your training and press conferences, deal with injuries, and decide your path towards international glory!"

Cricket 24:

"Career Mode; Follow the journey of your player from club cricketer all the way to the international stage, developing your skills and growing your fan base as you hone your craft to become the next big thing in cricket. Cricket 24 gives you more control in determining your destiny, becoming a short-form hero, focusing on the Test team, or trying to balance both on your way to cricketing stardom."

Apparently, according to both, we are "in control". I'm unsure anyone who played the 22 career felt like they were in control of anything, so it'll be interesting to see what 24 brings.

Also also....

Pro teams completely omitted from the bullet point headlines of the latest press release. This was from April:

"Pro Team; Collect player cards and build your cricket dream team. Take on weekly challenges in single player game play, or go online against the world. Join with your friends to compete at teambuilding in The Auction mode."

And now it's not even mentioned. That's a pretty sizable red flag to me, especially if you combine it by saying you need more time for getting the licenced teams and players right (which I don't believe either, but that's just me).

I am happy about Pro Team though, as it's a mode I have zero interest in.

To the folk who also keep mentioning the new laws and more money = a better game, I don't have enough time in the day to list all the big budget games that prove this one completely and utterly false. I'd say solid planning and realistic resource management probably make for better games. Solid planning (knocking release dates back) and resource management (removing previously promoted features) aren't filling me with hope here.

That came across as far too negative, which wasn't my intention, but I don't think I want to read it back and edit it now haha Just pointing out things that had occurred to me.

Cya in 3 months.

You beat me to it. I was too busy rambling about loads of other stuff instead :grinopen:

It's important to remain skeptical and call out on their mixed feature announcements especially with the lack of community engagement compared to the past and their worsening track record. A healthy dose of cynicism is necessary as long as we don't devolve into a mess of hundred pages again...

101 not out.
Can we get to 500 pages before the launch of the game?

If BA drops some new content, like pictures and short gameplay videos, it'll quickly reach over 500 pages. They still have three months left, so they should share some content soon—even a pic would be great for now.

BA will be up against some big titles like the Assassin's Creed Mirage, Lords of the Fallen, Alan Wake 2, Spider Man 2, and Alone in the Dark in October. One can afford only so many games in one month.

True. That plays back into my solid planning point from earlier. It's all well and good slotting your game in to coincide with something in the cricketing world for added profile, but the gaming landscape is brutal at that stage.

No, the original press release also said 200. The only bit that has been included in that section since April is the addition of the PSL.

Original press release is here, if anyone is interested ----> https://www.globenewswire.com/news-...RESS-RELEASE-NACON-Announcing-Cricket-24.html

With the release of this game set to early October, is it too much to ask for a final patch for Cricket 22 in the meantime? Mostly stuff like kit updates for England, New Zealand, Ireland and West Indies and new bowling actions would be nice. Cricket 24 is less than 4 months away, might as well build up some interest towards it by adding new content to Cricket 22 and dropping teasers over the coming weeks or so. I would have posted this comment on the Cricket 22 thread, but that thread is dead and the devs actually lurk here anyway...

Ah must have been an error on eb games website then, think it still says 300 there

When they announced the game in April 2023 i thought they need to get a move on as the first date was 16th June seemed not there far off, the lack of communication i found the most frustrating thing, although disappointing in one sense about the delay at least we know the rele

Spiderman 2 is a must buy and top priority then will think about Cricket 24

There’s also Baldur’s Gate 3 in August and Starfield in September, the gaming calendar is stacked with heavy hitters in the second half of the year.
