Cricket Captain 2023

Chris Child doesn't care really the budget excuse is exactly that an excuse. The game hasn't improved for a number of years. paying £25 for a database update is taking the beewax. Cricket Coach 2014 is still a better game to play and its nearly a decade old. Plus it has an Editor and you can change & update competitions, I may have to dig that out and have a go on it.

Icc2022 i brought last year, Was ok. The plus feature in fairness is the ability to play as an all time test xi against any side of your choosing. That's a good feature of which it will be the same as in this version so no need to buy it for that

The 'small dev team' and 'budget' excuse that the franchise fans use to justify this stale game is hilarious honestly, not like there's so many great examples of games that have been made by a single developer and are more feature rich on steam. I'm willing to stake the house on their white ball match engine still being hilariously inaccurate as usual.

I did download their demo for the ease of access to an easily navigable cricket database and decided to check some things out of curiosity. Virat Kohli's apparently a 'spin specialist' and DK has a slight spin preference, while Pant slightly prefers pace. Who the hell even does these preferences/ratings anymore or does the person doing them watch any form of cricket? :lol

Not a coincidence that Sureshot is no longer active here, he'd be laughed out of the room if he was still trying to market this pile of crap here.

There is a major problem with the AI on Cricket Coach 2014 while playing in 4th innings. Invariably the team does not score more than 100 batting last. Whereas with Cricket Captain 2023, this seems diametrically opposite!

Interesting post on the official forums recently by the dev recently.

Basically, sales are okay, mostly thanks to mobile gamers buying it, so that offsets the decline of sales on PC. Because of that, they consider the negative reviews to be irrelevant.

In other words; He's chasing the $$$ and never really cared about the input of fans. But we knew that I guess.

Add to that they are planning to release the game on Xbox and PS5 as well , lol, they are only after $$$ from every where possible

Good that the curtains have finally been dropped. I’m not sure if they’ll survive with just mobile sales in the long run anyways since it’s quite pricy for a mobile game and while there aren’t any cricket simulation games as of yet, there’s plenty of arcade options that are freemium and soon enough we’ll see one of the Indian dev teams make a simulation game too when they realise the potential market accessible.

Unless the development cost for consoles is extremely low I don’t see how this ever makes money for them. Your average console gamer isn’t going to sit around clicking loads of menus on a controller. It took Football Manager ages to finally get their product on the PlayStation and even that was a delayed release.

After seeing the steam game sales data through vgameinsights , Cricket Captain 2014 Gross revenue was $156k where as Cricket Captain 2023 gross sales were $16k.

So they had no option left but to look in to the pockets of other platform holders like mobile devices and consoles , PC users ain't dumb enough to keep paying them.

Mobile makes sense for now but I still expect them to get blown out if they get any sort of competitor in there.

They'll never make enough on consoles in the long run.

I bet they ain't going to make even $10k combining both consoles , Most of the consoles are use by kids or young adults with very little attention span and need constant action so this game ain't going to suit them at all. However they can find some success on the mobile phones.

Consoles have never really been that great for management games IMHO, even one as streamlined as CC with its awful sorting/filtering features, I genuinely can't see it surviving for long, and I'm not sure where the revenue is supposed to come from given that Sony and MS' fees should be a lot higher than what you'd get on PC?

PC is the king of platforms for management games, especially one that is supposed to thrive on statistical analysis like cricket. Even if you just made incremental improvements like Footie manager has done for the last couple of years, you're home free.

I can't see it doing much beyond becoming a gacha, gamble box for mobile platforms, that's where crap goes to become shovelware.

I'm just disappointed at how unambitious the dev team are to be honest. I think 23 (or 22?) is the first edition you can swap teams during your career? It's taken to 2023 for them to figure out how to do that? It just reeks of being lazy. There isn't really much of a game there, in either tactics or management tbh and it is frustrating to deal with, the fundamentals haven't really changed since... 1998?

They should have gone down the route of having player attributes, genuine scouting, a proper youth team, a proper coaching set up, actual management and such rather than, as one of their fans on the forums puts it 'a game I just press spacebar until something happens.' :lol

lol they are back at interacting with the users and even updated the game , seems they now have realized that they have to make some substantial changes in order to sell the game again , cow has been milked to the death and they definitely need a fresh cow.

I am being stupid have bought 2022 and 2023 versions after 2018 being my last purchase.

I'm still on 2015. :P

We'll see if their discussions do anything though.
