On Hold Cricket Dynasty - We got all busy

Great way to start off our journey and it couldn't be any better than thrashing a team with 154runs. Lasso was fantastic in both innings and got the 1st ever century for his country. Sad the opener missed his century. Ortiz was as awesome as he can. Shattered the opposition in pieces in both innings. Good to see captain getting some runs under his belt. Feels good to have our first win .

Not a nice way to start a tour with a bit of a hammering like that :(. Hopefully we can work on it a bit...

Jamaica wins matches, lose confidence of players

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In a much better show by Jamaica, the visitors convincingly beat Niue in the second of the three ODI match series against Niue. The home team won the toss and elected to bat first on a lush green surface, a decision that they would have regreted with the Jamaican pace battery had them 4 down for 38 to eventually bowl them out for a meagre 139 with Miller picking up three wickets while Walters, Coverly and McKay picking up 2 wickets each. Skipper Walters returned to score an unbeaten 43 as he led his team from the front to victory.

However, everything was not goody goody for Jamaica. Even before the match, the inclusion of Coverly surprised many. What was even more surprising was the absence of Middlesex seamer Butch Jones right before the match. He was said to be suffering from 'mild fever' at the time of toss by the Jamaican captain. Our sources said that the senior batsman Dick Punani had a rift with the skipper due to his decision of not playing Jones. The argument was quite heated and if the rumours are to be believed Dick Punani even threatened to pull out of the tour before seamer Miller who was present at the time of the incident took upon him to settle the issue. This was however, declined by the coach and the captain of the team even as Dick Punani remained unavailable for the comment.

Our sources on the other hand stated that there might two groups in the team due to the incident. This might have an adverse effect on the third and final match against Niue but during the press conference the head team Carl Hooper looked confident for winning series 3-0. If the statement by the head coach Carl Hooper is anything to go by, the atmosphere in the dressing room does not really seem as healthy.
"Jones suffered from mild fever on the eve of the match so we did not take any chances and let him take enough rest. He is now fit and will certainly play in the third match. He even bowled in the nets today however, the bad news is that one of his rising deliveries hit DP on the left thumb and he couldn't continue the nets. We would not take any chances ahead of the upcoming three match test series and with the series already in our bag we would opt for a fully fit DP so you can expect some changes in the side but we would take no less than 3-0 from the series"

After a spectacular century from Kea Keeti propelled Tangaroa Sports Club to a huge score against Endeavour, their seam spearhead Wiremu Pikari launched a full-frontal assault on the opposing batsmen to bowl them out not once, but twice. This sealed an outright win and a valuable two points.

But all would have been for naught if they had failed to beat The Rock. Once again, Pikari stepped up to the mark, taking six Rock wickets in the first innings. This meant that they had to score just 234 runs to secure their place in the final. Thanks to a superb performance from eighteen-year-old Kahorere at the top of the order, this was never in doubt.

Wiremu Pikari demolished all-comers with the ball, before an eighteen-year-old saw that there could be no last-minute wobble.

After that, the final Group A fixture between The Rock and Endeavour was a dead rubber, but nobody would have known that if they had been watching. A superb 171 from Tangaroa Piripi pushed them Endeavour far out of reach, before Maaka Raharui swiftly dismissed The Rock batsmen. Unfortunately, the weather intervened before they could make a real push for the outright win.

In this group's opening fixture between Tarawa and Blue Lagoon, it was tail-ender Nanui Pihopa who was Tarawa's batting hero. His mature unbeaten 71 from number nine turned an ailing innings into a possibly match-winning one. After that, he delivered with the ball, taking three important first-innings wickets to ensure that Blue Lagoon finished in second place.

Nanui Pihopa was the unlikely hero for the bat for Tarawa, ensuring a first-innings lead in their first match against Blue Lagoon.

There was no time for Blue Lagoon to nurse their wounds, because they were straight into their second match against Wanderers. In spite of a hundred from Nahi Tamihana, the Wanderers batsman could not steer the Wanderers past Blue Lagoon's imposing 393. As a result, both Tarawa and Blue Lagoon were tied on one point; with one game still to play, all three teams could still qualify.

In the end, though, Tarawa made no mistake as Kingi Arono stepped up to the mark to take six wickets in the match. Despite Erehe Hamuera scoring a headline-grabbing century, Wanderers were comfortably second-best and looked for a time as if they might lose outright.
