On Hold Cricket Dynasty - We got all busy

Well done team! Collin Phillip has come out as the biggest positive from the series and so has been the batting of Russell. Not to forget our gloveman, Salmon who has been pretty consistent with the bat too allowing us to field the most balanced XI. I would love to see skipper Walters making his presence felt both with bat and ball though. Really looking forward to Copa America tournament in Chile.

I would be looking at taking over Sweden think they are available, if not I apologise if it’s someone else’s team I am talking about.

If given the chance I would commission a convoy of Saabs to drive through Russia and drop down into Lithuania. From there the Swedish will take the opportunity to deal with these Lithuanian hipsters!

Liking the sound of this European Cup though.

Sweden is still available :).

Jamaica thump Chile 2-0
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jamaica, as expected beat Chile comprehensively by 7 wickets in the third and last match played at Trelawney. As reported, seamer Butch Jones made a return to the side bowling with great ardour sending back both openers for blob to give Jamaica an upper hand after Chile won the toss and elected to bat first but the star of the match was once again young Colin Phillip who was dismissed in the nineties but not before he made sure his team gets crucial lead. The hosts never looked back from there and won the series 2-0. Colin Phillip was named as Man of the Series for his sensational effort of 404 runs at an average of 67.33 from 6 innings in 3 tests.

Binta Chin chooses to play for Hampshire over Jamaica. Questions raised!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

walsh-fidel.jpg

Is it all over for Binta Chin's Jamaica career?
To much surprise of everyone, Binta Chin the pint side West Indian bowler who was thought to have moved to Australia came out in open and informed during the press conference that he was trying to work on his pace in the nets in England. When asked where was he all the while as his side played the third test against Chile, Chin said, "I know the real question you want to ask and I would keep you guessing for that (whether I am considering Australia move). I have been playing here in England all the while. I am trying to work up my pace because I feel it is not up to the international level and increasing my pace will give me a lot more success at the highest level. I have just been offered a contract from Hampshire and I am look forward to playing on diverse types of pitches here in England." Binta Chin finished the press conference with a smile. This also means that Binta Chin will be out of the Copa America series which is a huge blow to the Jamaican team. Does this also mean he is not caring about his commitments as Jamaica cricketer? Is he seriously considering the Australia move? Only time will tell.

ACB announces inaugural List-A tournament

upload_2015-12-31_12-2-43.jpeg

In a press conference held at the Kabul Serena Hotel, the Afghanistan Cricket Board announced the inaugural Etihad Airways Regional One-Day Cup, to be held in Kabul, Nangarhar (Jalalabad) and Khost before the start of the Asia Cup. "Although in the past some Afghani teams played in Pakistan domestic tournaments, this is the first List-A competition that will be staged in Afghanistan and played only by Afghani players. All the national team's players will take part in this tournament. There will be five teams competing in this league : Kabul Tigers, Jalalabad Pashtuns, Khost Warriors, Kandahar Zalmi and Herat Knights." the ACB chairman announced. " The squads will be picked through a draft system, but a preliminary round of the draft already took place, in which the five teams were allowed to pick a national team player as captain. Kabul picked Talha Hayat, Jalalabad chose Fardeen Yousuf, Khost chose Zainuddin Rahaman, Kandahar picked Suleman Pathan and Herat selected Shafeeq Alam. The draft itself will take place tomorrow evening here at the Kabul Serena Hotel." he further revealed. "We are thankful to Etihad Airways for sponsoring this tournament, and look forward to this exciting partnership. I'd like to wish good luck to all the teams participating, and i hope that this tournament will be the most exciting cricket tournament ever staged on Afghani soil." he added.

Scotland enter

Keith Oliver, head of Cricket Scotland, has announced that Scotland have had their formal application to join the Cricket Dynasty program has been accepted and that they are now entering the highly competitive competition.
Before a room full of intrigued reporters, Oliver answered a wide range of questions, along with three other men alongside him. Two were well known Scottish billionaires, Sir Ian Wood, and Jim McColl, while the other, a rather tanned and rugged looking man, especially compared to the two tycoons alongside him, was later revealed by Oliver to be the captain of the side, Australian-born Reiley Guest.
"Guest brings with us an extensive knowledge of the game, his skills and leadership are exactly what this country will need if we are to contend with the top nations in the world. And I assure you, although he might've been born in Australia, he is most definitely Scottish to the bone."
Much speculation was made of why Wood and McColl were in attendance at the announcement, however Oliver quickly shot any rumours down when it was revealed they were the benefactors of the side,
"After our performance at the 2007 World Cup, Scottish cricket went under for a reevaluation, and from that necessary plans were put in to help fast track the competitiveness of the national side, as well as ensuring the stabling growth of junior cricket. One area that was identified as needing a fair bit of work was funding, and ambitiously, nee set out to find quite wealthy people who would be able to support us, in that you can see why Sir Ian and Jim are here today."
From this point of the conference, Guest, who'd so far, managed to go wordless for the preceding duration, spoke.
"Sir Ian and Jim have contributed massively to Scottish cricket, they financed our national cricket centre, which contains our largest stadium, the newly renovated Grange ground, which can now hold 12,000 spectators, and which we hope will gain test status in the coming weeks. Alongside that, we can proudly claim to have our own first class competition, which consists of five teams, playing competitively throughout our summer. This competition results in around 12 first class matches, 16 list A and 18 T20 matches, which is a six team competition. Yes, at times the quality can dip, however former international players including the likes of Michael Clarke, Graeme Smith, Chris Gayle, Matt Prior, Muttiah Muralitharan and Chris Tremlett have spent varying lengths of time here to really test and develop our homegrown talent.
With the introduction of our domestic competitions, which are now in their third season, a large group of our players have turned professional, with many earning in the range of £40,000 to £75,000. Which allows all of us to not have to stress about bringing in a solid income.
Along with covering all the basics such as groundsmen and equipment for schools and clubs, and finding other sponsors to contribute to the cause, as well as financially growing our T20 franchise based competition, Sir Ian was kind enough to sponsor three of us, Norval Smith, Craig Harrington and myself, to spend two seasons playing first grade cricket in Australia for a New South Wales club, despite the fact I'm born in Victoria. From this, we really got a taste of the competitive nature of cricket we needed to compete with on a daily basis if we're to be successful in our pursuit.
I'm confident that the 18 man squad that has been selected for our first opponent, will do their country proud, and play the sort of game we've all been preparing for."
After the 'outburst', Oliver, with a sly grin, then announced the squad, while giving a small, basic insight into what each player was capable of:

:bat: Reiley Guest (captain), RHB
:bat: Finlay Smith, LHB
:bat: William Connolly, LHB
:bat: Angus Bond, RHB
:bat: Craig Harrington (gice, RHB
:bat: Callum Campbell, RHB

:wk: Seamus Lindsay, RHB
:wkb: Kyle White, RHB

:ar: Alec MacLeod, LHB, RS
:ar: Laird Smith, RHB, RS
:ar: Angus Lindsay, RHB, RM

:bwl: Billy Wallace (vice captain), RHB, RF
:bwl: Sandy Brown, RHB, RM
:bwl: Norval Smith, LHB, LS
:bwl: Samir Singh, LHB, OS
:bwl: Ainsley Lindsay, RHB, LMF
:bwl: Alan Fraser, RHB, RMF
:bwl: Evan Young, RHB, RMF

Oliver then allowed Wood and McColl to speak, and they discussed their investment, which was a more economical elaboration on Guest's message, before announcing their scheduling intentions. "So far, although we have been accepted, no one has entered into discussions with us, that was to be based on the decision, now that we have been accepted, we expect to hold numerous talks throughout the next few days, and will hopefully have a series planned in the next fortnight." As to who it might be, the billionaires were sceptical,
"It could be anyone, Sweden entered the competition only days prior, they also need their first opponent. A marketing dream would be England, that would really fire up our fast bowler, Billy "William" Wallace, as well as being a dream for a lot of the boys. However we'll take anyone, we are ready to show the world that we are a competitive cricketing nation."
And with that, it was over.
The coach, announced as Justin Langer, was not in attendance, due to a family commitment, was the only person missing.
Only time will tell how successful this Scottish pursuit will be.

@Guesty98
We would be happy to visit Scotland and maybe play a short tour? The series should be a great one and a showcase for the two newest teams.

Scotland would be more than happy to welcome Sweden to their newly refurbished grounds @Dakota.

One small problem about the tour is that I'm sure I read somewhere that @The Author was unable to sim the one dayers for a while, and if this was to be the case, perhaps just a one or two test match series?

ASIA CUP
asia-cup-png.157803

The Asia Cup will be hosted by the region's newest Full Member. Bangladesh defeated host bids from some of the most reputable cricket boards in the region, including India, Kuwait and Lebanon. This is perhaps a controversial decision, but may serve only to spur those national teams on to greater heights. This is a twelve-team tournament, including no less than eight Full Members from this powerhouse region.

COPA AMERICA
copa-america-png.157804

The Copa America was the first of the regional tournaments to be confirmed, and will be contested by another strong crop of nations. It is also being hosted by one of the newer Full Members, with Chile defeating a bid from Knockout Cup hosts Costa Rica, and the United States. This is arguably the least open of the regional tournaments, with only two Associates included (despite the administrative turmoil of Argentina and Brazil).

Erm well if it can’t be done there is *Test series only, which is 3 test matches. Unless weather played a big hand we should see a result for one of the teams.

We will make our way to the airport…

EUROPEAN CUP

With hosting rights for the European Cup having been awarded to Lithuania and Estonia, this tournament promises to be a real festival of cricket. Including no fewer than sixteen nations - a whopping twelve of whom are Full Members - this is the largest of all the regional tournaments, and arguably the most prestigious. Keep an eye on the San Marino games for some possible records.
