1912: The year of the ill-fated Triangular Tournament, held in England between the three Test nations of the day: Australia, England and South Africa. First mooted by Sir Abe Bailey, it fell victim to infighting, squabbling, and the British climate. It has never been repeated.

But what if it had worked out to be something bigger, better, and altogether longer-lasting? This tournament is the story of what might have been.

Manager: T.B.C.

In the early 20th Century, Argentina were one of the strongest teams in the world. But for the stroke of a statistician's pen, the first-class games between Argentina and the MCC could have made them the fourth Test nation.

Summer 2015:
Following widespread dissatisfaction with the decision of the ICC (International Cricket Council) to reduce the number of teams competing in the World Cup to ten teams, those countries who were formerly Associate and Affiliate members have made the decision to break away from the ICC in the aftermath of the 2015 World Cup to form the GCA (Global Cricket Association). The first action of this new governing body is to arrange a new World Cup competition, which will run in Europe in the summer of 2015.

However, in an attempt to quash the rebels' progress before it really starts, the ICC has imposed a two-year embargo from the professional game on any player who participates in a GCA-backed event, meaning that several of the leading teams' best players have declared themselves unavailable for the event.

Cricket Through The Ages:
In real life, the Triangular Tournament of 1912 was deemed to be a failure.

Almost certainly the least thought-through of all my ideas, but essentially the concept is this - what if the 12-team ODI Championship proposed by the ICC is carried out as a kinda WCL-style thing with two divisions of six teams.

Oh I really can't be bothered with all these. Just do a Statsguru search if it's that important.
The Global Cricket League is the new face of List A cricket. Visiting eight of the world's major cities, it aims to spread cricket into its greatest untapped market. The 120-strong player pool is unique in that each and every player is representing a different country; from Anguilla to Zambia, from Montserrat to Macedonia, the WCL is the most ambitious project cricket has ever seen.

Each of the eight teams has a squad of fifteen players, including a "local player" from their country of origin, and a "star player" from their continent of origin. There are no restrictions on the selection of the final XI, except that the local player must play in every game.
