Nasser Hussain: I've got Indian Captain Rahul Dravid alongside me. Good Morning Rahul, how is it to be in the Finals playing alongside South Africa?

Rahul Dravid: Good Morning Nasser. Yes it feels great to be playing here at The Home of Cricket, nothing in the world is more satisfying to be playing a Test tournament Final at this great ground. I feel South Africa are a really strong side and they've had a great run in this tournament, also the first team to reach the Finals!!! I think they played brilliantly back home when we played them at the Eden Gardens. Also I felt they were too good a side for us to beat in their own backyard.
Nasser Hussain: Rahul, what do you make of this Indian side in this tournament?
Rahul Dravid: I think this tournament for us had its own share of highs and lows. We began this tournament with a loss and our batsmen including me completely failed to stand up to the conditions that were on offer to which South Africa's pace attack especially Donald and Pollock took full advantage off. It was more like we were playing in their conditions in our own backyard. Things went extremely good for us in next 4 matches as we beat South Africa in our remaining 2 matches at home, I think winning at Bengaluru was still a little difficult for us but Veeru's special innings was a great help to us. Also playing against England at Chennai we ended up giving a good lead but the way Sachin and Virat played actually did a world of good to our confidence. It was disappointing to lose at Kanpur since we were in control for the major part of the match. Later on when we toured South Africa, VVS played a great knock for us at Centurion due to which we gained a decent lead but then again we failed to use our advantage and got bowled out for 200-odd. I still believe we could've defended that target which we failed to do. The next 2 matches were hugely disappointing. It was extremely appreciable of this side to make a comeback from there to win 3-0 against England in England and make the Finals.
Nasser Hussain: If you want to pick one player as a stand out from this team who would it be?
Rahul Dravid: It's been really hard for me to pick one player. Sourav was really good with the bat and have kept on accumulating runs match after match for us, Virat has been really consistent as well. Ashwin has come really well in the last series for us. So it's really hard to pick one.
Nasser Hussain: To bring balance to this side you have to keep wickets as well so how hard it is to take up the Captaincy, bat at 3 for the team and Keeping wickets as well?
Rahul Dravid: It is difficult but to give balance to the side sometimes you need to get out of the comfort zone and give out your best. Also playing for India and seeing them do well after all that you do for the team is really pleasing, so all this doesn't matter much at the end of the day.
Nasser Hussain: Last question, do you think you have in your side to beat the Proteas in the Final?
Rahul Dravid: Yes definitely we can beat them given that we give our best on the field. I think it is also important for us to not get too carried away before the match begins. This is a Final so even they would come hard at us and may well dominate us in this match. So would want to wait and see what happens as the match goes on.

Nick Knight: So I've got the South African Captain Graeme Smith alongside me. Good Morning Graeme, so you are finally here at the home of Cricket after such a long time.

Graeme Smith: Morning Nick. Yeah it feels great to be finally back on to the Cricket field playing the Final at Lord's. I think it was much needed for our side after a tough series which we unfortunately lost 3-0 to England. But it was also important to test our bench strength and find the right balance in the team and rest few of our gun players before the Final. It's a bit of a double-edged sword situation sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesn't.
Nick Knight: How much has the England series loss affected your side?
Graeme Smith: I don't think it affects us much, as said earlier we were playing our second string side. I think for most part of the tournament we have done pretty well and we are arguably the best side in this tournament
Nick Knight: Since the Indian side is in a great run of form off late so did you need to change your plans for them?
Graeme Smith: Not by much. The Indian side has always been the side which has plenty of resources from a talent's perspective and their bench strength have been prettty strong as well so somewhere we knew the challenges we would be facing come the final so we were always prepared for it.
Nick Knight: What makes South Africa perform so consistently throughout the tournament?
Graeme Smith: I think we have a great bunch of players in our squad who have always performed consistently for us. May it be Allan Donald, Steyn or Pollock with the ball or may it be Kallis all-round performance or may it even be Kirsten's class with the bat. I think AB is a special player for us and always have been an X-factor in this side. Infact I won't be surprised if there is yet another contribution from him for one last time.
Nick Knight: How much are the chances of South Africa winning the Final?
Graeme Smith: I think the major strength of the Indian side has been their middle order, if we get through that our bowlers can win it for us. I think our batsman would somehow get in and score for us as always been the case when we have played at full strength. So definitely we have a strong chance going forward into this match.

Rahul Dravid: We would like to bowl first. Looks like the pitch is a hard flat wicket which won't change much over the course of the match. We would fancy our chances of chasing the target in the 4th innings like we did at The Oval few days ago.

Rahul Dravid: We've got 4 changes for this match Rohit, Hardik, Kumble & Shami are in for Gambhir, Jadeja, Bumrah & Zaheer. We wanted to have Zaheer playing this game for us considering his exceptional record in England but unfortunately he pulled his hamstring in the morning.

Playing XI

Nasser Hussain: The playing XI for the match. Sunny what are your thoughts on the Indian line-up?

Sunil Gavaskar: I am quite surprised that Rohit Sharma have made this side ahead of Gautam Gambhir considering that Gambhir scored a 100 at Nottingham. Maybe India thought that they would rather want to have an X-factor player at the top of the order thinking that this is the Final and if Rohit does give India a good start there are plenty of runs on offer. The start that Sehwag provided to India in their run-chase at The Oval it was hard to keep him out. Both Rahul Dravid and Kohli made hundreds in their last innings and with Tendulkar and Ganguly's experience in the middle-order it gives India a lot of depth. Hardik Pandya is an interesting selection as he can bat well in the lower order an also gives India a pace bowling option as opposed to Jadeja's slow left arm. Both Ashwin and Kumble could make the scoring incredibly tough especially the form that Ashwin brings. Both Zaheer and Bumrah were unfortunate to miss out, Zaheer more so due to the fact he got injured this morning. Shami over Bumrah is an interesting choice, maybe Bumrah recent form was a bit of a worry and Shami's bowling in 2nd innings would become crucial. Ishant have got a 7-fer a Lord's so you just can't keep him out. I think this is an incredibly strong Indian side which would give South Africa a run for all money in this Final match. Over to you Mike.

Mike Haysman: Thank You Sunny!! I think the South African batting line-up is unchanged for most of the matches in the tournament. Smith, Gibbs, Kallis, Gary Kirsten and AB de Villiers make this team really strong in the batting department. Pollock have made this side over Klusener as expected keeping in mind Pollock's ability to get wickets both with the new ball and the old ball. Philander over Rabada is a good move since Philander can bowl at tighter lines and can move the ball both ways. When you have genuine pacers like Allan Donald and Dale Steyn then as an opposition you are always going to think about how you are going to save your wickets. I expect a mouth-watering close contest between these 2 great Cricketing nations.

Pitch:The hollowed turf at Lord's is generally a good bowling surface and the batting is generally difficult when the ball is going down the slope. Over the recent years the pitch over here is batting friendly. The pitch for the Finals would be neutral and would help all kind of bowlers but won't keep the batsman out of favour. So expect a gruelling contest between both sides!!!

That was end of an extremely competitive day of Cricket. India somehow stitched together some good partnerships but Philander kept breaking them. Sachin Tendulkar was dropped by Herschelle Gibbs when he was batting on 80 and he made it count by going past his maiden ton at Lord's and adding another 71 runs and still batting!!! Although India definitely lost a couple of more wickets than what they would've liked. But they are still very much in the game and their bowler's may well snatch this out of South Africa's grasp in the 2nd innings. Both teams need to be cautious on the crucial Day 4!!!
