ok - this may not be the first time - but it happens to be the most recent occurence of this fact - Jacob Oram and Gilly scored centuries in the first test at Gabba when Kiwis toured Australia few months ago...both batted 7

so is this the answer?

thanks for the clue...was able to find the first instance...Everton Weekes and Hemu Adhikari scored centuries at Feroz Shah Kotla in Nov. 1948...both batted at no.7...nice question...tell us the abt the second instance pls...

Ok...now tell me the highest score by a no. 6 and a no. 7 batsman in ODIs...

second instance was a bit different..when Moin khan scored 115 not out against aus. in 1994 and in the second innings, aamir sohail (came at no.7 due to injury or something) scored 105.

for no.6, it was kapil dev's memorable 175 notout against zimbabwe. and for no.7 it was kaif's 111 or something against zimbabwe in 2003 (champions trophy i believe)

thats right...one wouldnt have to check out cricinfo or the archive...a detailed post is in the anecdotes thread...i think it was - 77 runs in 5 legitimate balls...after that the umpire got bored and didnt allow the bowler to bowl further...
