Chewie, i can co-manage with you on 1 condition, stop typing brooke and type Brook instead, i'm not a girl.

Lol, ATM you've got your own team anyway.

And that probably won't change. ;)

haha sorry! I didn't actually realise there's a difference. I'm co-managing with Riz anyway but I'll remember for the future :)

I'll wait another hour before finalizing the teams, so if anyone has any objections to post 74, please post them ASAP.

Setup
(You must read this until the Tactics part)

A key part of Risk is the initial setup. This initial setup sets the stage for the rest of the game.

In order to determine the territory selection order, I'm going to reverse the ICC ODI Championship rankings.

ICC ODI Championship

1. Australia
2. India
3. Sri Lanka
4. South Africa
5. England
6. Pakistan
7. New Zealand
8. West Indies

There are 42 territories and every team is going to start with four at the beginning of the game, so that leaves 10 territories which will start the game as neutral. These 10 neutral territories will be occupied by players outside the major eight nations.

Normally you'd just go around in a circle claiming the territories, but in order to speed it up slightly I'll allow two teams to pick at once, so it'll run like this:

New Zealand/West Indies
England/Pakistan
Sri Lanka/South Africa
Australia/India

New Zealand/West Indies
England/Pakistan
Sri Lanka/South Africa
Australia/India

New Zealand/West Indies
England/Pakistan
Sri Lanka/South Africa
Australia/India

New Zealand/West Indies
England/Pakistan
Sri Lanka/South Africa
Australia/India

So New Zealand and the West Indies will pick first, once both of them have picked England and Pakistan will pick, and so on until everyone's got their four starting territories.

Here's the Risk map. It's fairly basic so I think all of you should be able to understand it. The only thing I have to say is those lines across the water mean you can move across there. So for example you can move between Brazil and North Africa, but you can't move between Brazil and South Africa.
The list of the territories can be found on the first post, as you can see the numbers run parallel to the map I posted above.

In order to give you some time to plan your tactics, the draft won't start for another 20 or so hours. Because only two teams are picking at the start, I won't give out an exact time, as there won't really be a rush.

Tactics

As most of you know very little about the tactics to what you're doing at this stage, I'm going to give you a couple of quick pointers:
(It's your decision whether you want to read these or not)

1. Your players will receive bonuses when you conquer whole continents, so you don't want to claim four territories on four different continents, you really want to have your territories spread across only one/two continents.

2. At the same time you want to block people off from getting close to conquering whole continents, so you may have to go out of your way to block someone from claiming all four territories in Oceania or South America straight away.

3. You don't want to go claiming territories in no mans land, you should be looking to claim territories that have only a couple of adjacent territories, so there's less of a chance of you getting attacked at the beginning of the game. Following on from that, if you have your own territories next to each other, there will be one less chance of where you can get attacked from.

Two Managers

It's completely up to you, but you probably only want one manager claiming territories in the draft. Since most of the duos are in a similar time zone, I advise you exchange a few PMs so you're both on the same page in terms of tactics.

On another note, if I continuously see two people disagreeing (because they aren't communicating with each other), I'll give your team to someone else.

Overall this is just a trial game more than anything, I know it's not very convenient having two managers, but it's just to give more people an idea of how the game works, and see if it does work more than anything.

I won't mind with me co-managing with rahul.

When can we start picking?

I know you can pick now, but I don't want others to feel they have to rush into it.

Tactics? I'm just going to wing it. Works most of the time.

The tactics are more just for the teams teams with two managers. It's pretty hard to wing it with two people, as one of them might get annoyed. :p

Can I Co-manage West Indies with Iridium or England with Harris ?

Can I Co-manage West Indies with Iridium or England with Harris ?

Harris doesn't want a co-manager, and it'd be unfair on Iridium giving him a co-manager, as he didn't really want to be the West Indies.

You're first on the waiting list, so if something comes up I'll contact you ASAP. ;)

What We have to do now .when the drafts will start.

Did you read anything I wrote above, not to mention someone has already asked the same question? :spy

So pretty much in this time have a talk to your other manager about what tactics you're going to use. Make sure you've read everything I wrote on that post above if you're unsure, as more times than not you won't of read it properly.

It gives you a run down on Setup, Tactics and Two Managers, which are the three things you should focus on ATM.

If you have anymore questions please feel free to ask, but make sure you read everything I post before doing so.

Read the whole thing. This game looks great and interesting. Can't wait for this to start :p
