No, not really. The OP captures most of the pain points accurately and the poll gives an indication how majority of the users feel about the game. Closing the thread or deleting it is not the answer. If Patch 3 comes out and addresses the points mentioned in the OP then fair enough but at the moment no.
If the thread can get back on track and lead to worthwhile discussion then fair enough, but having it dominated by one user being stubborn, closed-minded and endlessly whining for weeks on end is not adding anything of value whatsoever.

I feel that the poll itself isn't indicating much either. Obviously most people will "agree" with the content of the original post because it's mostly pointing out obvious and objective issues. One such as a "how satisfied overall are you with the game?" on a 1-5 star scale or something would give more insight as to what the overall reception and feeling towards the game is like IMO.

TBH I don't really care for whining/discussions in the thread and treat them more as a means of bumping the thread. The OP is the meat of the thread. My fear is locking/deleting this thread will remove one of the very few reviews which call out the issues in the game. I wish folks who had played the Academy demo had raised concerns at the time so Big Ant could've addressed them (especially the batting) rather than saying "Oh the academy/batting's great!" when it's not.

The poll does show how many people agree with the points raised in the OP and that these issues/concerns are not the imagination of a single individual. When nearly 80% of the people are on one side of the fence then it does show what majority of the users think about the game. After that it's all up to Big Ant to address some, all or none of the issues/gaps mentioned in the OP.

This is true but games are pressured to be released unfortunately, big ant catch the flack while bigger companies shake it off (sales of Fifa). We all need to be positive, think kind and remember we are all sentient beings Life is too short. The thread is a review; my suggestion is let's tackle the bugs as I don't feel Ross has much time to read through everything and not look for problems in review threads.

I don't disagree and I'm not at all for running after Ross and the Big Ant team with a pitchfork. I want the best for the DBC franchise and want it to be a long running and successful franchise. My point is that the OP in the thread is a great piece of constructive feedback and Big Ant would do well to consider it.

It's not easy to judge the whole experience from the Academy where you can only bowl at unattended stumps or hit into an empty field with no stat tracking. If we had the ability to bring up wagon wheels from sessions in the Academy, the batting problems could have been identified much earlier (such as not being able to hit to certain areas) and substantiated with clear evidence. Other things such as the issue raised here by Alberts would have likely been brought up earlier if we could see pitch maps etc. Fielding issues were obviously impossible to see in the Academy... We didn't have a great deal of tools at our disposal to make substantiated claims about gameplay issues at that point IMO.

While I do think it's important to document and explain the issues with the game, and show what the consensus on the release is, this thread is likely to be pretty useless at that now despite a decent OP. My guess is that after the subsequent nonsense spouted in here, BA don't open this thread as a priority (if at all) and Varun is on plenty of ignore lists. If we want to continue such discussions along the same lines as the OP could have branched off into, a new thread would likely be the best place to do so.

As I mentioned earlier i don't really care about anything much other than the OP as it lists the issues quite succinctly. But if the thread is deleted/locked it will die down and disappear which I wouldn't want to happen. If mods think some of the discussion is irrelevant or certain posters are not adhering to the forum rules I would rather they remove the objectionable posts and ban the posters. But this thread, specifically the OP, should not be taken down or locked. It's good to have threads/feedback from both negative and positive perspectives and I think this thread (again mostly the OP) serves that end well.

Edit - Unfortunately I don't have access to a system which could've played the academy but surely cover drive not going squarer through the Covers or Cover point region or the flicks/glances not going to Fine Leg & Long Leg region should've been visible without the wagon wheel. I saw a couple of YT videos of batting in DBC Academy and mentioned that the Cover drive seems to be going to the Long off 7 Wide Off area and was told not to comment since I haven't played it and it wasn't the final product. But what I've seen so far the Cover drive goes in exact same direction as what I saw in the Academy batting videos.

Edit 2 - And in case the batting in DBC Academy demo was great but somehow it's different in the final product then that's another concern, i.e. why change something that was tried and tested in the demo? Surely that was the whole point of the demo, wasn't it?

It's been here long enough and the issues mentioned repeated enough that Big Ant are surely already aware of the main concerns we have about the game... This thread being open and continually being on the first page no longer serves to help DBC17 become a better product and there are better reviews anyway (helicopter shot second in "new features", really?) so how long do you suggest we keep bumping this thread/allowing it to remain active so people can read that one post?

IMO I would keep it till Patch 3 so the OP can be updated post patch 3.

OP is probably on at least Ross' ignore list due to the ensuing BS posted here so I'd be surprised if such updates to the post were useful. There are users here who can provide better feedback and are more likely to be listened to.

Until BigAntStudios comes out and aknowledge the Points on the Opening Post .

If the only thing they do is , tick the issues next to the review off and fix in the upcoming patch , along with the other 10 pages in the Bugs thread , then we will have a very very good cricket game in our hands

Edit : Seeing Madman`s response :

Are you suggesting I should copy the OP , and then Create a new Thread , and then Ross will actually print it out and pay attention to it ?

He surely have taken note of all the points , I dont see the need to open a new thread for that . But thats just my opinion , not taking you on Madman .

If BA see it as useful feedback, I'm sure it's already been documented by them (printed or otherwise). No need to copy it or have a replacement thread, but this one has been terrible for a while apart from the first post ("I enjoy bashing BA because they fleeced my money waaaah!") and there are other similar reviews mentioning some issues (e.g. blockerdave and Royce) and we're not constantly bumping those so the OP can get attention?

The only reason this thread even stayed on the first page and gets noticed is because OP would have his daily whinge.

Some mad....some drunk....some high.....some cowardly.......some rational.......that is what the world and its micro environments are made up of.:clap:clap

Anyway, I am updating the OP to reflect the Bowling Length issues which was highlighted by Albert. :spy

And would appreciate if you can also add missing glide to 3rd man or fine 3rd man area. Currently the late cut shot goes squarish to Square Gully and you can't glide the ball to 3rd man area which is a staple in shorter formats.

The lack of cover drive has been evident since the academy demo was first launched. Both myself and I think, Fissionmailed (I'm not going to tag him and do him a disservice by dragging him into this thread) highlighted it.
