Dearth of (raw) fast bowling talent in India?

Hahaha... thanks for changing the title again, Dutch. :)

Its all about who the young Indian cricketeres want to idolize when they are growing up and are contemplating the kind of cricketeres they will want to develop into. With likes of Gavaskar, Gundappa Vishwanath and Sachin bieng the dominant players over the last three decades , there is no points for guessing who they end idolizing. That is the reason India will always produce more classy batsmen than quick bowlers. The exact opposite holds true for Pakistan.

Sami, its not just the idols. Its not as if we have`nt had bowlers breaking in with the ability to bowl quick. Munaf was one such prospect. Sreesanth could swing it in the early 140s which is lethal. Zaheer was a 90mph bowler when he started.
Somehow our attitude towards quick bowling is wrong.

Even now, we have Shami, Yadav and Aaron who conistently average 90mph. Aaron yesterday was clocked at 149 kph and did go for runs. However, had he been in the Pakistani setup they would have encouraged him to keep bowling fast. On the contrary, we are already seeing articles that suggest he should stick to line and length stuff. This is how we ruin pace.

Give the lad some time! He is 2 games old and is bowling on this dead track at Fatullah!

Agreed. When we have a 90 mph bowler, we need to encourage him to keep his pace up.

Varun Aaron does have this talent. Even at this pace, all he needs is a bit of control without sacrificing it.

I think it has got a lot to do with coaching or should I say overcoaching. India need to find a good fast bowling coach at international level to guide the youngsters properly imho.
