Dec 16-20: 3rd Test - Australia v England at Perth

Aussies would be mad to play two spinners at the WACA. Recalling Johnson might turn out to be a good idea. Australia is definitely under immense pressure here as they haven't won at the WACA recently. The lost their last two Tests against England and India,so its gonna be extra tough.

All this aussies talk, who do we want to replace Broad guys?

Personally I want Tremlett in, especially in these conditions. I'd say Shahzad but he's more your swing, skiddy, reverse-swinging bowler. Bresnan just lacks that little bit extra that you need in test cricket.

I wonder what the odds are that the wicket turns out to be flat and England just bat another massive 550+ inning

I expect it to be so because the WACA have been obsessed with pulling a record crowd. Plus when they've had matches that aren't nearly as likely to gate well, the pitch is still pretty boring.

Best chance the WACA have of wanting a full ground is to book a load of flights from the UK and get us there, we seem more interested in it than the Australian public.

i mean look at the english lineup! the worst english team we have faced since nasser...prob even worse.

This England team is easily better than any England team of the 90s while a notch below the team of 2005. To say any different is to be ignorant of English performances of the last two years.

I think the selection of Beer ranks as one of the most left field decisions in the history of Australian cricket! I get the feeling he was only selected because Shane Warne went on a rant about how he was impressed by Beer. Warne may be the King of Spin but hes not god and he has got it wrong before..i.e. his continual praise and talk of how Bryce McGain was the best spinner in the country...look at what happened to him! I thought Nathan Hauritz deserves a recall...he bowled well in the shield match against SA, kept it tight and took 3 second innings wickets. Also and again I state this...what is the point of recalling Johnson? He has played no first class cricket since being dropped, I dont see the logic in reselecting him and praying that he turns it around!

Hi aussie teens...!!! bored of coll life...? want some fun..? throw away your joysticks, macbooks and iphones.. take a red ball, rollover ur arms a few times in ur backyard to your grandpa if u have one.. and i reckon u ll get a call from Hilditch within few hours.. u can earn enuf for the next summer.. but keep ur gadgets safe, u may need them back in another few days..
ha.....

Seems the quest to unearth the only spinner in Australia not to have been given a baggy green in the last 3 years has been successful.

And I really thought we had run out and were going to have to back round and try them all one by one again and see if they do better 2nd time round.

Seems there is still some barrel worth scraping.

Maybe they are hoping he will be the new Peter Taylor.

And what a fine attacking bowler he was.

Hilditch said off-spinner Nathan Hauritz was overlooked as the selectors wanted a slow bowler to turn the ball away from the bat in an England middle-order featuring right-handers Jonathan Trott, Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell and Matt Prior.

Hilditch said selectors had no idea if Johnson's remedial work on his action in Perth this week with mentor Troy Cooley had worked, but said he could still make the XI.

"We are really keen on Mitchell coming back. Whether he is ready for Perth I don't know quite yet," Hilditch said.

"He is still a work in progress."

Oh dear oh dear oh dear, first they wanted to get KP out with the SLA, now they want them to spin it away from the right handers. The problem is they now have two spinners that do that role. And he has no clue if the magic net practice worked on Johnson so lets just throw him in anyway. FMD.

KP IS a right-hander, and orthodox left-armers spin away from right-handers same as leggies. What are you trying to say here?

Batting possibly better. Bowling not as good (apart from spin).

The main reason for picking the SLA for the 1st test was to get out KP because of his perceived weakness against it. Now they have changed their tune after he whacked Doherty and now saying they want to get out right handers with it. How about we stop pissing around by picking a bloke on what arm they bowl and pick the best one we have.

Indeed. Some people are just great cricketers, not so their judgement of talent.

Warne since retirement always seem to hype up every spinner that plays for AUS. He has never ever written of any of them. Even when Doherty was bowling on debut @ Brisbane, Warne on commentary was trying so harddd to try big up after h got a few to turn early. :lol :facepalm

So from now on i'm not taking Warne's views on any AUS spinner very seriously. He just seems like a past spinner just trying to give support to any spinner than plays regadless of how good/bad they are, which is not the objective & balanced viewpoint one would have expected from hollywood.
