Dec 26-30: 4th Test - Australia v England at Melbourne

But obviosly the selectors are looking @ it from the opposite side of the coin & as i said are backing that early talent shown in the strongest FC competition in the world, which i can understand although im not 100% convinced by it.

tbh, I don't have much respect for sheffield shield anymore. The bowlers are toothless and inconsistent, the batsmen that are coming in with reputations as run machines look shoddy and almost untrained.

Shield doesn't look the strongest FC comp anymore imo. don't think the pitches they are playing on are up to much, whereas in england there is a lot of variety week to week.

^ spot on.
Just look at Smith and Hughes. If they are the premiere shield batsmen to come out in recent times then it really must be going down the crapper. Australian cricket in general is on the decline. and now with CA focusing on Twenty20, I don't see them making a Test comeback anytime soon.

So as we approach lunch honours even I would say though I would obviously rather be in England's position!

This is terrible now. The only chance Australia got now is if all our batsmen bat like they're Sir Don. Suppose we gotta get them out first though.

Unsuccessful review. Looked like it hit the bat, Hotspot didn't show it though.

Didn't look out live for mine, snicko shows nothing at all so that confirms the right call was made. Don't know why Ponting carried on, don't think he was even that confident with it live.

Ponting should have just accepted the decision, its not going to be changed if he argues with the Umpire. It would also be interesting if they had the stump mic on, I'd love to hear the sledging and what the players are saying especially in an ashes Test.

Getting seven shades of crap beat out of you by the England team is no reason to lose your rag over a marginal and more than likely correct umpiring call.

But it's ok, Ponting will "smooth it over" with some crap joke to the umpire later in the day to avoid being fined, as usual.

Oh, there's a wicket, Ponting will feel good now and crack his joke soon.

SIDDLE!

He's been the best bowler by far and to think he could of been dropped! Hopefully a few more will fall now.

I wonder when Ponting is going to get touchy feely and put his hand on Aleem Dar's back and crack this joke.

Mate, stop acting like the picture in your avatar.

Close run out chance. It looked like it was going to be out live but Trott just made it. Disappointing that.

looks like Mitchell Johnson is back to his usual form after his flash in the pan performance at Perth.

----------

lol and of course he gets another gifted wicket off a pie.

Ponting you idiot, an umpire is never going to overturn his own decision...so argue all you want.

Siddle involved in all 5 wickets. They just need a team of Siddles and Husseys essentially

Interesting use of the DRS there although what would have happened if that wasn't a no ball, then England lose that call.
