The BCCI launched the Indian Premier League (IPL) on the lines of football?s English Premier League and the National Basketball League (NBA) of the US.The IPL is a professional Twenty20 cricket league created and promoted by the BCCI and backed by the ICC.The IPL works on a franchise-system based on the American style of hiring players and transfers. These franchises were put for auction, where the highest bidder won the rights to own the team, representing each city.

After the great success of IPL season 1 the second season is going to England. Each team is assigned with a stadium as a home ground and will play with the other teams twice (one home and one away match) in the league stage the league will involve 59 matches.

April 17th Team report

iconrrlge.png

The Rajasthan Royals
Captain:- Shane Warne

This team needs no introduction they are the champions of the first season and would like to continue there winning streak this season too.But the absence of Shane Watson and there leading wicket taker Sohail Tanvir would definitely hurt them. But Shane Warne is a kind of captain who could get his team out from any type of a situation.

iconcsklgek.png

The Chennai Super Kings
Captain:- M.S.Dhoni

CSK were the finalists along side Rajasthan in the opening season of the DLF IPL but had to taste loss on the last ball of the match. This time around they would like change it around with the star player Andrew Flintoff coming in there squad.

iconddlge.png

Delhi Daredevils
Captain:- Virender Sehwag

Delhi daredevils had a good season last time and made it to the semifinals. With Sehwag as there captain as well as there opening batsman they would like to take the attack to the opposition. The new buy to watch out for is David Warner from Australia.

iconmilge.png
Mumbai Indians
Captain:- Sachin Tendulkar

Mumbai Indians had a mixed season last time with winning 6 consecutive games and loosing 4 consecutive games.Losing Sachin Tendulkar at the start and Harbhajan Singh in between the tournament affected them a lot.Hopefully this time they would like to get some momentum and start winning from the start.

iconkxiplge.png
Kings XI punjab
Captain:-Yuvraj Singh

Kings XI Punjab have some problems this season with there star player Bret Lee missing out due to injury and there Indian pace bowler Shree Shant nursing an injury too.To make a mark in this season its a tough task ahead for them.

iconkkrlge.png
Kolkata Knight Riders
Captain:-Brendon Meccullum

With all the drama off the ground in the KKR camp all eyes on them to improve there performance from there previous season.

iconbrclge.png

Banglore Royal Challengers
Captain:-Kevin Pieterson

Banglore bagging Kevin Pieterson in auction would like to get into winning means leaving back there performance last season.

icondclge.png

Deccan Chargers
Captain:- Adam Ghilchrist

A star studded team that finished last in the points table last season. With Adam Ghilchrist leading the side from the start of the season and having bagged Fidel Edwards in the auction they would like to forget things of past and start a fresh this season.

Over all the teams look a lot balanced than compared to in the previous season, and its going to be alot more competitive . So stay tuned and read through as th excitement of the second season of IPL unfolds..

One of the mindblowing starts to the story :hpraise :clap Keep it up.. I am certainly looking forward to this one. :thumbs

April 18 Match day MI vs CSK

Its match day today and its chennai super kings Vs mumbai indians.
Lets get down for the pitch report.

Good afternoon everyone , Its been raining here since 2 days and its all damp in here. The pitch is quite damp and the ball will not come on the bat nicely. And the outfield is also a bit wet and slow thus making even more difficult for the batsmen. The good news is there is no cloud in the sky and we will have a full game.Batting is gonna be tough out here.I reckon win the toss ball first and put the opposition in get them for a low score and the chase would be easy.

Lets get to the toss now I have two captains Sachin Tendulkar for Mumbai Indians and M.S.Dhoni for Chennai SuperKings.
Sachin has the coin Dhoni is gonna call.Sachin tosses the coin , Dhoni calls it heads and its a tails Sachin wins the toss and elects to ball first.

Here are the lineups of the two sides..
cskvsmi.jpg

Its a surprise to see M.S.Dhoni opening alongside Mathew Hayden its seems he want to lead the way as a true captain.Hopefully CSK could put some runs on the board.

The teams are out in the center and the two opening batsmen for Chennai Super Kings M.S.Dhoni and Mathew Hayden are out there.
From the bowlers point of view these are superb conditions and they need to utilize it well and strike early.
From the batsmens point of view they need to put their heads down and concentrate in building patnerships and putting the innings together.
To open the bowling for Mumbai Indians its Lasith Malinga.

Bravo 1-0-10-0

We have seen all pacers till now the balls swinging and not coming on to the bat and the bowlers are making life difficult for the batsman.
On the other side batsman have done a good job by not loosing a wicket hopefully they could get themselves in and accelerate the scoring rate.
Its Zaheer Khan to bowl the 6th over.

Its the half innings strategic break for the chennai super kings and we speak to the coach of CSK Stephen Fleming.

What do you think about the pitch Stephen?
SF:- Yea its very damp out there and batting is not easy out there. The balls holding a bit and not coming on to the bat.

And at the half way stage what do you think about your teams position ?
SF:-Its good that we havent lost any wickets hopefully we could accelerate now and put a decent score on the board.

What do you think is a par score on this wicket?
SF:-140-150 would be a winning score and we will try our best to reach till there. If we dont loose more than 2 wickets will the 15th over we could get 140 quite easily..

Thanks Stephen for your time..

Thats the end of the strategic break this could help Mumbai Indians regroup a bit and try to apply some pressure on the batsmen and take some wickets.

Its Sachin Tendulkar with the ball to continue the bowling for the Mumbai Indians.

End of Innings interview with M.S.Dhoni.

Good innings MS how does it feel ?
Dhoni:- It feels good obviously to get runs at the start of the tournament and to get runs in these tough conditions it really boosts up my confidence.

We havent seen you open the innings before, what was the plan ?
Dhoni:- The reason behind me opening the innings was to give a chance to Mathew Hayden play his natural game and take the attack to the opposition were as I planned to stick with him and bat right through the innings.

What do you think about the pitch ?
Dhoni:- The pitch is not quite good for batting its a bit damp out there and the balls doing a bit of the pitch too. Obviously Mumbai Indians did feel the absence of a 5th bowler as we got good runs against there part timers as it was a bit tough against the regular bowlers we had a plan to target the part timers.

What do you reckon could you defend 150 on this track ?
Dhoni:- Its not easy to bat on, hopefully our bowlers could hit the right areas and extract something early on and get some early wickets. Getting the worlds best openers sanath and sachin would be the key hopefully if we could get them early , pressure would be on their middle order.

Thanks a lot MS for your time all the best for the second innings.
Dhoni:- Thanks Cheers mate !!!

Mate it's a good story there is no doubt about that. But just try and make your pictures a little smaller in size. They just look too big for the forum page and ruins the whole story IMO.

Other then that mate, all looks well and good. Keep it up

Thats a double blow for the Mumbai Indians as the teams go into a strategic break.

Interview with Shaun Pollock

Not the best of the starts what do you think are your chances in this game ?

]SP:- Ya we lost a couple of wickets at the end the main wicket for us was that of J.P.Duminy loosing him early has
got us into some kind of trouble. But all said Jayasuriya is still at the crease and with Bravo and Abhishek Nayar to follow
I think it wont be difficult for us.

What do you think about IPL coming to india ?

SP:- Its a good move this. The crowd here loves the sport a lot and there will be alot of people coming in for the matches.
It will be a good exposure for indian domestic cricketers to play in England and get the taste of the international flavour.

Thanks alot for talking all the best for the chase.

Post match presentation:-

Hello and welcome to the post match presentation ceremony
First we would like to call Sachin Tendulkar the loosing captain

Not a good chase sachin what do you think was the turning point ?

ST:- We were in a good position till the end of 9 overs but then loosing two wickets just before the strategic break didnt helped us.If jayasuriya could have batted about 5 more overs we could have a different result.Surely it gives us alot of positives and we hope to carry them forward in the tournament.

Thanks and all the best for you next match..
Now could we call upon the winning captain M.S.Dhoni .

Good start to tournament how does it feel to start of with a win ?
Dhoni:- Yea it feels good to start of with a win. We had a plan for Sachin and Sanath its good that we executed it well and got them without doing much damage and that helped us apply some pressure and get a win..

Thanks M.S for talking with us and you are the man of the match as well
all the best for your next match.

FINAL RESULT:- Chennai Super Kings win by 33 runs.
