April 18th Match-2 @ Manchester Cricket Grounds.

We are at the Manchester Cricket Grounds and the champions of the IPL season 1
take on the team who had a mediocre last season.
Its Rajasthan Royals versus Banglore Royal Challengers Banglore.
Banglore Royal Challengers having a new captain in Kevin Peterson would like to start of as a fresh.
Lets get down to the pitch report and have look at the conditions down there.

Pitch Report:-

Its a sunny day out here a perfect day for cricket.Lets look at the pitch. Its a green pitch with a lot of grass on it the ball will do a lot when pitched in right areas . It would assist a lot to the medium pacers from both the sides. The out field is lightening quick once the ball passes the infield it reach the boundary pretty quickly.
I reckon bowling first and putting the opposition in and getting them out for a reasonable total would be the key.

Here are the lineups from the two sides.

The two captains Shane Warne and Kevin Peterson are out there in the middle for the toss.
Shane Warne has the coin and he tosses it in the air, Kevin calls it heads and its a tail Warne wins the toss and choose to bowl first.

Rajasthan Royals are out there in the middle with Uthappa and Kallis to start the preceedings for Banglore.Kamran Khan to bowl the first over for the Rajasthan Royals.Uthappa and Kallis get Banglore to a steady start with Kamran Khan bowling just the right length for the two batsmen until Robin Uthappa misjudges a run and gets runout in the 5th over for 16runs from 15balls.Kallis followed him in the next over edging a delivery of Mascarenhas to the wicket keeper when he was at 9runs.By the end of 6 overs Royal Challengers Banglore are 31/2.Surely they have to capitalize from here on to post a decent total and put the pressure back on the Rajasthan Royals. The fielding restrictions are off and more than 2 fielders can be outside the 30yard circle.Ross Taylor and Rahul Dravid need to get in all there experience to count here and stable the ship for the Banglore. But Mascarenhas have other ideas he knocks off the stumps of Rahul Dravid with an inswinging delivery and he is out for 12runs.Thats a big blow for the Royal Challengers now its upto the captain Kevin Peterson to occupy the crease. Its the end of 10 overs and Banglore are 60/3 as the players go into a strategic break.

Batting score card:-

Robin Uthappa runout 16
J.Kallis c M.Rawat b Mascarenhas 9
Rahul Dravid b Mascarenhus 12
Ross Taylor notout 13
Kevin Peterson not out 9

Bowling Score card:-

Kamran Khan 2-0-3-0
Munaf 2-0-18-0
Morne Morkel 2-0-15-0
Mascarenhus 3-0-21-2
Warne 1-0-2-0

Interview with Anil Kumble:-

We are here with Anil Kumble and we will ask him what does he thinks of about his team position.

Anil:-60 runs was what we were looking for in 10 overs but we didnt wanted to loose 3 wickets till the half way mark, 60/1 would have been a very good score for us but never the less we still have Peterson and Taylor out there if either one of them could bat through the innings we will be posting a big total.

What do you think would be a par score over here ?

Anil:- Any were around 140 would do and with the ball swing around it will surely help our medium pacers and hope they could utilize these conditions well.

Thanks for speaking to us Anil.

Its the end of the startegic break and players are out in the middle and the match continues..

Its seems the strategic break has helped the Challengers alot as they score 12runs out of Warne's over this could help the runrate some what. After being hit over the park in his over Warne now needs to apply some pressure and so he does throws the ball to his wicket taking bowler Mascarenhas. And this over indeed results in the runout of Ross taylor at 21runs.Now the challengers are at 80/4 after 12 overs as the new batsman comes in the form of youngster Virat Kohli. As if the wicket of Ross taylor have no effect on Petersons mind and he smashes Warne for another dozen of runs in his over and quickly reach on to 33runs of just 20 balls as the challengers reach 92/4 after 13 overs. Its the battle of greats Peterson and Warne that the audience have come to here to see and O boy !! they are having a treat. Peterson is the key for the challengers and Warne knows it too as he brings in his most economical bowler Kamran Khan to bowl.

But there is no stopping for banglore as the youngster Kohli gets in to action smashing Khan for 22 runs with 4 fours and a six in the 14th over with banglorequickly reaching on to 114/4 of 14overs.Its warne again to bowl the 15over to peterson and this time he gets his revenge by running out peterson for 33 runs.A little cameo by Virat Kohli and Goswami helped banglore reach a 142/6 with 4 runouts at the end of there 20 overs.

Batting Score card:-

Robin Uthappa runout 16
J.Kallis c M.Rawat b Mascarenhas 9
Rahul Dravid b Mascarenhus 12
Ross Taylor runout 21
Kevin Peterson runout 33
Virat Kohli runout 26
Goswami notout 18
Pankaj singh notout 4

Bowling Card:-
Kamran Khan 4-0-29-0
Munaf 4-0-27-0
Morne Morkel 4-0-20-0
Mascarenhus 4-0-29-2
Warne 4-0-36-0
