Happy Navratras everyone. No fun for 9 days.

I'm not being bisased or anything, but Navratri is done best in Gujarat side, especially Saurashtra. They/we celebrate it big.

Bisased? Just because you're a mod now doesn't mean you can invent words :p.

It does not feel like festival season this time around. A month early for all festivals.

The deadline is 10 PM in Mumbai, if you play the music after 10 you are eligible to get Pandals jailed and the system confiscated.

but it's still fun.

Would like to see Sanjay bhai in Traditional Gujrati dress (the Garba outfit) :p

I have already worn one. My dad forced me to play and wear a big frilly dress in 2007 insisting it was a once in lifetime opportunity. :p

We've set up the Kolu South Indian style here in USA.

I love Navarathri. I'll try to get pics up soon.

TBH, Navratri here in the UK is crap. Most the people who go to it here are dumb chavs who have lost their culture and thus turn the whole the whole Garba into a disco. I mean the music system as our Mandir was a keyboard player and a fat woman. I mean what the hell. Where are the Tabla players? Harmonium? Dholak? :facepalm:noway

Rant over.

Or at least a recording? That's what we do here. They keep playing old Gujrathri songs from the 40s on repeat :p.

No. Our Mandir decides to spend their money donated to them on a pointless brick wall in front of the Mandir. Not on useful technology.

The gujju people bring the CDs. We rent out a school gymnasium (basketball court) and do the Gharba there. Gujju music blasted over the PA system, lol. :p
