Does anybody else find Harsha Bhogle annoying?

You forgot the one and only (luckily) Charu Sharma.

Oh! How could I forget him!

He and Bandira in Xxxxtra fittings(cleavages revealed as a result). I think Mayawati and Mulayam would have done better.

I always did find Harsha annoying. Laughing and smiling when there is absolutely no reason to.
Oh man, I hate it when people are happy for no reason. It's the drugs I tell you, the drugs.

True

Absolutely! Irritating blabber. Excessive usage of adjectives where not necessary. senseless analogies and too much talking. unbearable. His fluency in english is good but no practical knowledge of cricket.

I'm sick of his commentary and presentation style. He thinks he's an expert on English metaphors and compares the game to some of the silliest things trying to be too clever.

Like this one: "like a great writer searching for words" or something similar when he was trying to describe the reverse swing of Wasim Akram. Does anybody else here notice his stupid metaphors and feel annoyed at his smug commentary style?

Don't get me wrong. He's got an excellent command of the language and has a fair knowledge of the game too, but his commentary does get on my nerves...

OMG, this thread has been here since 07? I wish I found it earlier to remove my frustration about how stupid he sounds when he talks all that nonsense!

I actually love his commentary. I hate with a passion Ravi Shahstri. HATE HATE. Makes the games so boring, even T20 matchs. Has a croaky voice and is always monotonous.

I was introduced to Harsha through radio, and I thought he was great. On TV he is not so valuable. I like most of his discussion points, and he seems the most thoughtful of the Indian commentators, but his motor mouth is not suited for TV commentary.

I used to like Harsha Bhogle very many years back (in the late 90's and early 2000's). But off late, he has been very very annoying with his so-called humor while commentating. He tries to be humorous and it sounds so artificial that its so annoying. I would take Shastri or Gavaskar over this guy anyday.

Shastri these days seems to make so much mistakes while commentating. The screen would show one thing and he would say some other thing. He seems to be using "I beg your pardon" too often these days...

I like Bhogle. I think his viewpoints are interesting and he has a pretty good eye for the game. I also really like that he is one of the few com's without a background as a player. He's a fan, just like us!

His viewpoints nowadays have faded. All he does is tries a bit too hard to sound humorous when he can't and all those unnecessary metaphors. He gets on my nerves.

Yes I agree. He started with BBC so he thinks quite high of himself.

Remember his controversial interview with Sourav in Zimbabwe?
When he shares his Commentary Box with Overseas Commentators he completely changes his speaking note.

Is he not there for today's match? It sounds so much better tbh. Raza, Akram are all good.

Harsha Bhogle is a product of IIM-A.He is smart and that is why he appears smart.Dada is brilliant too but still early days to call him a great one.Anyway people are entitled to have their opinions :thumbs

Carrying this discussion here as I find it more appropriate. :)

Completely in agreement with your last sentence. Being from IIM-A doesn't make him a good cricket commentator though. I will confess I liked listening him when I was a lot younger. But, it's just that nowadays he tries too much. Hardly anything is on the topic. Most of it is way off.

This.

This as well. Although I disagree with him being thoughtful nowadays.

Though he never played the game,he has a great in depth knowledge about what he is taking. Also he is not biased like many others espically Ramiz Raja,Arun Lal,Ian Chappel etc...

Also he brings in some humour and a sense of liveliness in the commentry box unlike Shastri who screams at the top of his voice for nothing.I dont intend to disrespect anyone or hurt anybody,i just shared my view :)
