If Australia and the UK are the biggest and most profitable markets for this game, how come it is not available to pre-order anywhere yet in the UK, but in countries like South Africa and New Zealand it is?

Tru Blu only directly distribute in Australia, everywhere else they have redistributors who would have to handle things themselves. In South Africa and NZ the companies that will be doing that seem to be major distributors for a lot of publishers, while in the UK it's a smaller company (Alternative Software).

If anyone was to know the official release date it would be EB Games because they have the pre-order bonus and are therefore working directly with Big Ant, and even their website is saying 2014 while Big Ant have stuck by a 2013 release date the entire time. So I think it is pretty clear no-one outside of big ant knows the real release date and all websites have simply put in a stock date.
