Don Bradman Cricket 17 First Impressions Thread

Dave: "Hello HAL. Do you read me. ....... HAL, do you read me?"
HAL 9000: "Affirmative, Dave. I read you."
Dave: "I need you to update my batting average correctly, HAL."
HAL 9000. "..................".
Dave: "HAL?"
HAL 9000: "I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that."

Now describing someone as a little bunny rabbit I honestly thought this was about me... Hot and cold, Jesus! You are talking about me, straight down to a tee.

2001 A space Odyessy? Didn't this film have a large budget and one of the best directors ever on the planet. I don't think the budget for DBC17 is that big...? We shall see.[DOUBLEPOST=1491945990][/DOUBLEPOST]
When you have time can you explain to me what this is all about? Because I have no clue...? A sci fi film, bunny rabbits and hot and cold...?

OK, maybe I *was* describing you after all :)

Stanley Kubrick was the director. Boy did he have some great movies. Full Metal Jacket was another. And everyone knows The Shining. There are so many others. But I loved 2001 A Space Odyssey.

I don't understand the continuous mocking. Yes, something is broken and yes, it is being fixed. But why so much hate? It's a video game for god's sake, no one's life depends on it. I sometimes wonder how people have nothing better to do in life than whine about a game. Don't bother with the "premium price" debate. No one was forced to buy the game. If you bought it, then it means you were in a position to afford it.

@Dutch

Thanks for sharing what you could about the new patch. Don't worry I am not going to ask you anything about the patch lol we whould need a new thread!

@MattW

This is to bigant, I really hope you fix the save bug which to me is a game breaker. The bug were sometimes after saving the match you reload it, finish the game but the result has been awarded to another match and the game you played is not registered meaning you played the match for nothing. It has happened in world cups and also in a tour i created, only noticed it in limited overs games. I'm not sure what causes the problem but it's very frustrating lol.

Looking forward to the patch.

In Online we have a slightly different bug after saving :

  • The Teams logo`s on bats and kits etc. gets all messed up
  • The Player receiving the Save Game Invite , cannot access his Saved Preset Fields when bowling .

Fixed it for ya bud.....
Oh cool, you're back. Now let's get back to some discussion.

Look, it's been a rocky road with cricket gaming. DBC14 was a step in the right direction, but now we have a bunch of new issues. My pet concern, as you know, is stats tracking. I think that's a fairly common cause for concern but there may be other issues that others find more important.

But I tell you what: if the patch delivers and has full stats tracking, I'll buy the game and play it exhaustively. That's why I think it's a lame argument to say I can't have an opinion because I don't own the game (the culprit knows who they are). Because I just forced myself to wait and wait, before I paid for another cricket game, and I will still refuse to buy one that doesn't have proper stats.

So, the pressure builds for patch 4.

By the way, where the hell is Biggs? We need his input, or at least I do.

Ideally I would want to have a multi division system of automatic promotions and relegations

A long time ago in thread far far away, I brought up the issue of stats in an amicable and nice way and was basically abused. I only questioned why it was omitted from DBC 17 when it was present in DBC 14. I was quickly ignored by a man pretending to be a professional. I guess I will have to get over it however upsetting it was. Moreover, omitting statistics from a statistics heavy game Is like asking Americans there's no WHIP, GIDP, BABIP, BB/k, HBP, ISO, PA/SO, RISP, ERA, TC and PMT. Baseball is very dependant on stats just like cricket. When we play we're all inquisitive about our bowling averages, I never bother about my batting average. Maybe a lack of a middle stump. Nevermind, being a minority on here I thought my opinion would count but basically no... I agree I have had my moments but then I am a breed apart from many on here, some will have to get the books out to figure that out.

I don't feel I have been aggressive on here but only amicable and jovial, perhaps giving a little back to the whingers with nothing constructive to say but the fact remains this game was omitted without something which was strong in it's predecessor. I'm not going to man bash but some of you need to be more constructive in your opinions while others need to respect those opinions. Looking at the forum on a whole we can see it as a class room with different characters. In my opinion all good, different characters and opinions, I'm generalising... Back on track, yes there're problems in the game but everything that needs fixing is important and we all really hope that patch 4 fixes all that's wrong and delivers everything we would like extra in the game. That content is down to the individual to consider the contents off. Someone will be disappointed.

I guess my tiny brain has waffled for to long so I guess I'll wait for the abuse and the counter argument. Am I mad? Of course.

I'm starting to believe that anybody who dislikes this game is a pirate it's the only logical explanation for the criticism. Pirates are always complaining.

If all you did all day was be aggressive and drink stale beer and eat apples with one leg and a flea ridden parrot for company then you may feel differently... Oh, do you mean those pirates...?
